The following 2 weeks Patricia Karvelas is host.
Charles Croucher somehow appearing on Insiders and Weekend Today at the same time. I thought both were live.
Notice there was no “live” bug during the Today segment though.
Insiders is definitely live. At worst some interviews might be pre recorded however very rare.
Sunday 6 July
Melissa McIntosh - Shadow Minister for Communications and Women
Patricia Karvelas joins Karen Middleton, Tom Crowley and Miriam Corowa to discuss childcare
safety, Penny Wong’s Quad trip, the PM yet to meet Trump, tariffs, defence spending, NAIDOC Week
and Indigenous deaths in custody.
Sunday 13 July
Patricia Karvelas and the panel Jacob Greber, Jennifer Hewett and Mark Kenny discuss the PM’s trip
to China, the US review of AUKUS, the PBS and Trump tariffs, the Antisemitism review plus the RBA
keep interest rates on hold.
Not a huge fan PK hosting. I feel like her profile has been damaged by hosting QandA.
Not sure who else they have to host this though.
Fran Kelly and Annabel Crabb both acted as fill in hosts during the period between Barrie leaving and Speers taking over, and Michael Rowland has also acted as a fill in presenter in the past (and is still with the ABC), so they could’ve been other options.
Sally Sara (RN Breakfast) could be another option, though she is currently on leave at the moment.
Sunday 20 July
Jonathon Duniam - Shadow Education Minister
David Speers and the panel Peter Hartcher, Katina Curtis and Gary Adshead discuss the PM’s trip to China and meeting with Xi Jinping, trade with China and the US, parliament returns plus the washup from Tasmania’s election.
