Hit Network

The 2018 work year has officially begun for me this week. I am at my local bus stop in Surry Hills and there is a new blue and pink poster for this year’s 2DayFM breakfast show. Again the hosts of the show are all pulling weird faces. Grant has a cheesy grin. Em has her mouth open as she stares into the sky and Ed - well he’s just pulling the obligatory stupid face that screams “we think we are whacky”

Hopefully in 2019 they will try something new. This type of marketing has not worked in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 - what makes them think the “close up of heads making weird faces” will work this year?

I should have sold my SCA shares and bought shares in the bus shelter advertisers when Kyle walked.

It’s a pity as I love the music and Drive show on 2DayFM. Just can’t handle 6 - 9am or the RnB Fridays.

The old Ad Free 50 from the 2000’s worked well on all 5 Hit (Today) network stations.

According to an article on Radioinfo, 2Day has refreshed more than 3/4 (75%) of its playlist from last year.

No mention at all of the 80s music that has been added back in.

That would be part of the 75%, wouldn’t it?

It would have to be, I think.

New show Ash London Live & Local to air Sundays from 8pm-10pm to fill the gap left by Osher.

An extension of nightly Ash London Live show, the format will focus on just Australian music and artists, and will run across all Hit Network metro and regional stations.

Wow - talk about Ash London overload, the Hit Network obviously not content with just extending her show from 6:30-10:00pm nightly, then again on the Vevo 20 countdown from 6-8pm on Saturdays they’ve now added 8-10pm Sundays to her slate as well.

With a 2DayFM logo on screen? Knowing where the event is being held you’d think they’d be promoting Hit 106.9!

Not if it was sponsored by 2Day FM

Which it was.

Well it makes sense for each show to be sponsored by the metro Hit station in each state. https://vinedays.com.au

Not if it was aimed at Sydney listeners who go up there on weekends.

A bit odd that 2Day is sponsoring that since they’ve dropped the Hot AC music format.

Vine Days was obviously announced & promoted before the change.

Not really that odd when 2Day is still very much part of the Hit Network with it’s networked programming and logo colours.

More Music, More Variety - we play everything from RNB to Roxette

Looks like HitAU is gone with new Ash’s new Australian focussed show. Has it been gone for a while?

It was on last weekend (or the weekend before, can’t remember).
