I can’t see Fox ever becoming another 2Day. Anyway they’ve always got B105

Agree, Fox don’t have a K&J that they were so dependent on.

Anyone saying anything risque or sexy isn’t “copying Kyle” there’s plenty of that material on the airwaves before him and after him. Look at MMM Melbourne just to start with.

The guest was a bad choice though.

Fox’s $150,000 Secret Sound was won this morning. Amy from Cranbourne in Melbourne’s outer south-east correctly guessed it was the sound of putting the car key in the ignition and the key popping out.

I wonder if anyone at The Fox is listening to Craig Bruce’s Melbourne Radio Wars podcast?

Wade Kingsley had a brilliant idea that The Fox should make their Secret Sound something which is purely Melbourne-related (e.g. something you would do in [insert Melb suburb]).

But what can you do in Melbourne that you can’t do anywhere else - except maybe ride a tram, and the sound of a tram or it’s bells would be too obvious.

But there are trams now in Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Canberra.

It would be about giving it a Melbourne spin, even if you can do similar stuff elsewhere. ie. the sound is “walking through a turnstile at the MCG” or “grabbing the ticket from the machine at Flinders Street station”. It’s giving it the perception of localism, which can’t be done when a contest is broadcast across multiple markets.

That’s where it gets tricky, what if a caller says Southern Cross station instead of Flinders Street etc… That kind of detail is getting a bit too specific i think.

Those experts make me want to throw up with their commentary most of the time. Makes me understand why talent hates programmers.

Mix 101.1 did this about a decade back, and Gold more recently as the $50,000 Treasure Hunt.

It’s a good spin, but hardly original.

Swim in the mostly always brown Yarra River?

Better run and hide now RF, or the Mexicans around here will be out to get you after that comment!

Or the brown Brisbane River

Tricky, yes, but that’s the point. The clues would need to be specific enough to indicate a particular location, without actually giving it away.

Or the putrid Altona beach.

…this time, for the most pubs visited in the space of 24 hours by an individual … that person being Fifi Box.

Fifi visited 121 pubs from 9am yesterday to 9am this morning, finishing at Clocks at Flinders Street railway station.

Isn’t it amazing how they timed this with Nova100’s Hide & Seek.

Plenty of on-ground action for Melb FM listeners.

Hopefully all these Melbourne-centric OBs continue to erode K&JO in Melbourne.
