I try to not sound too much like a fanboi on here but I’ve got to mention some of the stuff Rebel FM played today - there was a selection of classic Aussie tracks being thrown in as a precursor to Australia Day, but not your Triple M-type Aussie stuff. The whole playlist can be found at this link but I’ll highlight some of the belters I caught driving around earlier today:
The Radiators - Comin’ Home
Sunnyboys - Happy Man
Jebediah - Military Strongmen
Something for Kate - Captain (A Million Miles an Hour)
The Saints - Stranded
Cosmic Psychos - Nice Day to Go to the Pub
Goanna - Razor’s Edge
And I see they threw in some Dune Rats and Smith Street Band, as well as a doubleshot of Nick Cave
Interesting fact about the above song: it reached #3 in NZ, whilst it only reached #16 in the UK & #21 in Australia.
Jona Lewie’s biggest hit in the UK was “Stop The Cavalry”, where it reached #3, as well as in NZ & also #2 in Australia. His 3rd hit, “Louise (We Get It Right)”, reached #2 in Australia, whilst it reached #24 in NZ, and didn’t even chart in the UK.
