This is SO random.
In September, Georges River Council revealed the 5 historical markers, with one of them being 2NBC. This is what the plaque will look like (I took this photo, which was projected on the screen).
The current site of 2NBC is in Kogarah. The original was indeed at Narwee’s Baptist Church (NBC for short). The radio station used the church to do the radio station, in return of naming it after them, which i was unaware of, and found this info out on that night. I dont think the plaque has been put in place yet.
I tune into this station time to time, but haven’t heard Dragons on that station - yet. Just the usual classic songs of the 60s and 70s
Not a “great” song as such, but another example of a new song that works well in a classic/greatest hits format. Breeze are playing Too Sweet / Hozier which was only released this year. Sounds great. This is the type of song that should get a spin on Gold/WS if they want to include newer songs.
8.15 this morning on 92.1 while cruising into Beauie, heard the Aotearoa classic… Slipping away - Max Merritt and the Meteors… sounded so good, first time I’d actually heard it on FM…
Yeah sure it was a 4KQ staple… and 4BH do play it on occasion… but I doubt QFM ever played it, and I don’t remember it being on STAR106.9.
It can’t be said I’m an early bird… It’s ten o’clock before I say a word.
4BH flog this one actually.it is a good song but I wish any station would play their 1979 cover of Steely Dan’s hit ,”Dirty Work “
I think their version is better than the original.
Just heard the tail end of Sonnet - The Verve on Triple M Melbourne. Disappointed I didn’t hear the whole thing because it’s a great tune that doesn’t get much airplay.
The Breeze played “Lucky Man “ by The Verve the other day I didn’t know this one , I still liked it though.
Most people think “Bitter Sweet Symphony “ was their only hit because mainstream radio stations play this song only.
