Recently heard Genesis- Hold on My Heart on 2NUR FM Newcastle just a few minutes ago. Perhaps one of the few seldom played tracks from the “We Can’t Dance” album (compared to “I Can’t Dance” which gets regularly played on the M’s) with the album being the final Genesis album to feature Phil Collins on vocals and drums before his 1995 departure.
On in-store radio at my local shopping centre, they are currently playing
Digging In The Dirt - Peter Gabriel
Great song lost to commercial FM radio.
Sunshine FM: A Matter of Time by Brisbane Band Railroad Gin - used to get a lot of play on 4KQ.
Heard on Coast FM Gosford “Soundtrack Of The 80s” today
Games Of Frontiers - Peter Gabriel
He’s Just No Good For You - Mental As Anything
How Am I Gonna Sleep - Tim Finn
Weak In The Presence Of Beauty - Alison Moyet
Big Love - Fleetwood Mac
My Obssesion - Icehouse
If You Love Somebody Set Them Free - Sting
On 2RE’s 80’s Hour today -
Out Of The Fire - Ian Moss followed by
Don’t Look Back - Go West
Don’t Look Down or by the Fine Young Cannibals?
Great songs too btw. 2RE do play some great tunes.
Two from me from this afternoon.
The Game Of Love - Michelle Branch
(on Hope 103.2)
Real Wild Child - Iggy Pop
(On 2EC 105.5)
Ooops…I always confuse the two!
Definitely Go West, so it’d be Don’t Look Down.
Yes I admit I’m one of those peanuts who has to yell RAAAAAAAAAAGE every time this song comes on
The Game of Love - wow, yeah haven’t thought of that song (with Santana) for a while. Definitely taped that off the radio back in the day.
Meanwhile, Rebel yesterday arvo pulled out Pantera’s Cemetery Gates just after 5pm, which was an absolute cracker. Name me a better song to crank loud on your drive home on a Friday afternoon…
Some more from tonights DX session

You’re Still The One (Orleans) one of the great TV ident themes. Sunshine FM
Heard “Homosapien” by Pete Shelly on tonight’s edition of “Nights with Dave Gleeson” on Triple M Newcastle just recently. This early Synthpop banger Charted at number 4 on the Kent Music Report in 1982.
Heard today on 2NUR here in Newcastle.
Blue - Fine Young Cannibals
Great song
Some more from tonight’s bandscan
When The River Runs Dry - Hunters And Collectors
(on Port Stephens FM 100.9)
Blinded By The Light - Manfred Mann
(on Nights With Dave Gleeson via Triple M Sydney)
Are You Old Enough - Dragon
(on 2NBC 90.1 Narwee in Sydney).
Suicide Blonde - INXS
(on 105.3 NEW FM Newcastle)
Breathless - The Corrs
(on 100.1 2HHH Hornsby)
Dragon in Dragons territory.
(BTW, I noticed you nominated Oatley for 2NBC’s location the other day. Narwee is correct as per the licence, but the tx is actually in Penshurst on the water tower. Good LOS SW; surprisingly I haven’t logged them here yet, only Sofala).
Oh did I? Your old stomping ground, right?
Yes, I’m definitely “old enough” to know better.
Re Dragons territory song - funny you say that, because they actually played that song twice! Gremlins, or maybe a big Dragons fan at work, @yellow_sock was that you?!
I might make a song request “Up Up Cronulla” to NBC FM. Wonder how that’ll go?. Maybe they’ll play it once if they’ll play Dragon twice.
Yeah, @Ant5476 is an old Oatleyean as well.
Funnily enough I received Sutherland Sharks Radio (99.7) better than 2NBC, despite not being in its licence area. I had probably the strongest (technically fortuitous) reception you could possibly get, around 60 dB+ on the Tecsun from memory.
Its a wonder you’re not a Sharks supporter then!
Never too late to jump on the bandwagon!
