Im behind, but as mentioned before, its limited with FTA choices, MAFS, Idol, Survivor every year for multiple episodes with an ABC show, Stan and something from Foxtel. If losing foxtel means more Disney streaming shows im here for it.
There are shows on other streaming platforms like Prime Video, AMC+ and Britbox that the producers can tell the Goggleboxers to watch and give comments.
Is Gogglebox on this week? I just saw an ad saying Socceroos game is playing in that time slot.
Wednesday this week. Promos have been running.
There was another Kelloggâs product placement in tonightâs episode, in which Milo ate a bowl of Coco Pops.
But that was believable.
Sure. ![]()
Bit off topic, but that violet purple colour would look great as a channel colour for 10 Peach.
yeah, I get that there are bills to pay and that product placement is a thing, but it undermines the broad premise of the show being about ordinary people just making commentary, not performing ads. If they just had the cereal as an incidental prop on a table or something and not make it a skit in the show, it might be less jarring.
The ads are bad enough but the product placement is a low for the show.
that one with the Daltons was cringe.
I dunno why itâs so hard to organically introduce these sorts of things to the show, it should absolutely be less in your face.
The amount of product placement that could possibly occur - before anyone would think of a bowl of cereal is insane, couches, tv manufacturers, meal delivery services, drink brands, heck even a Oodie coming into winter etc.
Why does there need product placement in a show like that? Iâm not a fan of the cast of a show like this doing adverts either but at least thatâs less intrusive than actually making it part of the show.
Nothing is free Jbar and TV stations have to pay the bills somehow, thatâs why.
Free to air is going down the gurgler, and people ask why a station would not try to monetize something? Seriously?
Sorry, but I donât agree with this. Do we have to monetise everything? Product placement is a sure fire way to lose viewers and itâs not something free to air television can afford to do.
People are still watching The Block in record numbers, and that show is just one whole product placement basically!?
Iâm not saying this is ideal, but if the alternative is that the show is no longer on, iâd take the odd product placement.
10 are footing the bill for Gogglebox by themselves now so theyâve got to pay for it somehow.
Isnât P+ with 10 and both have it (same company but P+ division have the funds)
Doesnât that mean that P+ can afford it?
The money comes from the same pot, but I doubt P+ are dipping into their limited funds to prop this show up - itâs just convenient they can have it across all platforms.
It wouldnât be a key driver of subs or retention on streaming, just as it wasnât for Foxtel/BINGE and why they ultimately dropped out.
