It could be difficult to include an indigenous ghost in a comedy show if it’s not done well.

Not to mention how some indigenous groups have certain sensibilities and superstition about depicting those who have passed - I would be keen to hear from an indigenous user on whether those sensibilities apply to a fictional TV show.

The lead actress Tamala Shelton has indigenous heritage. She was in Cleverman.

Yeah to me it isn’t about the representation. It was the fact there is no indigenous ghost. From the oldest culture in the world the stories could have been endless. I don’t claim to know a lot about indigenous beliefs around the afterlife so it could have something to do with that.

I’d say it has everything to do with that.

In many indigenous communities it is believed that bringing a spirit back causes harm and disturbance so the name of the deceased should not be spoken or written. Same goes for showing photographs or videos.

Having indigenous ghosts in a this show would be really disturbing.
