“call” more like reaction?
It’s watchalong commentary if you want to be specific.
Domestic channels are rolling with this story, which broke shortly after 9.30pm AEDT.
Over in Australia, made it into the Daily Telegraph. Also visible in many other global news sites now that it is an apparent terror attack.
I’d expect a minute of this on 7/9 in the coming hours.
Given the fact it’s being broadcast on both talk radio networks, have any of the TV newsrooms, even if just in NSW, announced they’ll be showing the John Laws funeral tomorrow?
Seven News have scheduled coverage
A bit “jumping the gun” from Seven given the tally hadn’t hit 218.
Although in this case, you could argue for this banner to be flashed at 6 Rep votes.

John Laws coverage ended just a few minutes ago.
Hong Kong news channels are in obit mode with their graphics and/or bugs, in light of the residential buildings fire that claimed over 40 lives (inc. 1 firefighter).
Programming might be troubling for TVB, as they have an annual charity show lined up this Saturday (29/11), plus a pre-parliament election performance that is supposed to go live across all broadcasters next week (6/12).
Coverage all over international outlets last night, as you might have seen - absolutely horrid pictures. RIP.
Not that troubling considering they can redirect their donations towards the fire.
Also, it does look like HOY is the only channel with obit graphics. The rest just their logo bugs.
Yes, the deadly Tai Po fire was mentioned on many radio stations in Melbourne this morning.
If you are referring to the annual Tung Wah charity show there is a precedent. During his visit to Beijing, Hong Kong Governor Edward Youde died in the British Embassy in the early hours of December 5, 1986. As a result, the Chinese title of the charity event broadcast, which took place a couple of days later, was changed from 歡樂滿東華 (Fun fills Tung Wah) to 愛心滿東華 (Love fills Tung Wah).
I think TVB and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals will go ahead with the charity show this Saturday, but scrap some performances, including dangerous stunts.
That’s the TVB logo on the top right corner of Today’s report. I wonder if Nine asked TVB for footage or just plucked it from YouTube?
Could be from YouTube. Could be from vision sharing agreements through Reuters or Associated Press, with TVB agreeing to share the vision to 3rd parties through their agreements under the proviso the logo is displayed.
I noticed that 10 News had similar vision to what Nine had this morning but now without the TVB logo
The Tung Wah charity show went ahead last night, with the Chinese title changed to 善心滿東華 (Charitable heart fills Tung Wah). The English title was TWGHs 155th Anniversary Charity Gala.
The artistes and dignitaries from Tung Wah Group of Hospitals observed a minute’s silence at the start of the program.
All the money raised from last night’s charity show would go to support the victims of the Tai Po fire. Normally, the money raised will be used to help funding the services provided by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.
Anything par the usual bulletins for the bushfire situation in NSW?
I know ABC Local Radio appears to be broadcasting locally according to ABC News’s live blog
