Financial losses at GB News grew substantially last year to more than £30m, as the right-leaning news channel invested in hiring presenters to combat the launch of rival TalkTV.
The controversy-prone channel racked up a pre-tax loss of £30.7m in the year to the end of May 2022, a period in which it hired former Ukip leader Nigel Farage to host a nightly primetime show.
Sucked in.

The UK market might not be big enough for two conservative news channels. Talk TV seems to be winning this race.
Based on what metric and data?
GB often beats Sky in primetime and beats BBC News 9-11pm
But I’ve never seen data that shows Talk ahead of GB
Based on GB funding is very shaky and not backed by a massive organisation which has loss making operations backed by things like The Sun
Nothing saying that TalkTV wouldn’t be losing money either, if it wasn’t likely being cross-subsidised by the radio portion and by other things in the News UK empire (and probably heavily promoted in the latter too).
(pretty much what @TVHead said really I guess while I was typing things out, haha)
TalkTV’s radio simulcast is also growing strongly - objectively it’s a worse product than what preceded it, but has actually found a consistent audience by chasing after the right-wing niche rather than being a poor copy of LBC and appealing to no-one.
They are splitting the feeds more and more these days, especially primetime weekends now.
(It’s a dodgy right-wing website but it is well-connected with GB News - some of its former staff now work there.) For a channel losing so much money, their owners seem to be happy to splash the cash on a new Westminster studio. They’ve also signed Jacob Rees-Mogg and Lee Anderson (both Tory MPs) to present shows on the channel. Rees-Mogg is a kind of Victorian aristocrat caricature, and Anderson is a boorish extreme-right motormouth - think a kind of British Mark Latham.
Must be a case of losing money to make money?
Hmm… nothing will beat Natasha Exelby jumping on ABC News 24 all those years ago:
(Can’t find the proper clip but I have found an interview from ‘the most impressive 12 year old’ as she described you
The jump is at 2:15 above)

Hmm… this sounds familiar!
Ahh, Angelos… one day you’ll finally come up with an idea of your own!

There is also a show on GB News called To The Point which there was also a show of the same name on Sky News Australia a few years back. I think Peter Van Onselen hosted it from memory.
Big get by GB News… after announcing his resignation from TalkTV, Erron Gordon has signed with the network (according to that dodgy right-wing website, but has eventually gained reputable scoops on many of the stations’ moves).
A needed move given GB News is desperate for an updated high-end and broadcast quality presentation style, as since its inception it has been second-tier, with very dodgy designs, a ghastly office-space studio (designed by an office space interior company), regional TV-like production styles and technology and a more intimate, simple presentation (which has, however, served as a point in favour compared to TalkTV).
However, in contrast, TalkTV’s Fox-style OTT branding, with stone cold idents (by Jump Design), supers (by Fox News themselves), music (by Sitting Duck Music) and set design (by Jack Morton PDG) was too American in style for a British audience, not helped by a bad credibility standing since launch (repurposing radio for TV in daytime, as well as low ratings, including Morgan, whose standing in his YouTube show page is much bigger compared to the actual ratings of his show).
Have you got any actual evidence of this or is this just your take? Agree it’s very american. But what evidence is there it was “too american” for a British audience?
Erron is brilliant talented man / but he was ECD over everything at TalkTV
