Nine wins Friday, their sixth straight overnight win though Seven’s main channel is number one. Nine’s share was up 1 from the previous Friday, ABC dropped 2 thanks to ABC News Channel losing share while Seven, 10 and SBS were steady.

Multichannels attracted their highest share of the week, especially for 10 where a repeat of Would I Lie to You at 7.30 pushed the main channel share down.

News continued to be the most popular genre though down on recent numbers while breakfast ratings also dropped from peaks earlier in the week.

The Chase was notable as the top entertainment offering as most prime time entries were down week-on-week with Better Homes and Gardens edging out Gardening Australia for the top post 7.30pm entry.

No sign of the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics in the top 20.

Hardly a shock considering all week 10 advertised the slot as TBA, who’s gonna tune into surprise program of the week?

It was also repeated on Thursday night.

The opening day of Pakistan-Australia test series rated very well on pay TV.

Can I ask a couple of questions (apology in advance if the answers are well known … I’m a radio guy ). Why does Nine have an extra multi? Could 7 or 10 add another if they wish? Is main channel or network TTL more significant??

Rebecca Maddern and Alicia Loxley really fighting it out in Melbourne. 1k difference across the hour.

Yes, the other network’s could have more multichannels. Seven Used to have 7Food but that closed down and 10 used to have one less until 10Shake was added. Probably main channel is where most advertising revenue comes from, but having said that, the age group of the audience is even more important.

Would I Lie To You Aus repeat at 7.30pm bombed. Should have aired Graham Norton at 7.30, and then air repeats, if needed, after that.

I’m hoping that the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics beat other offerings in the post 10.30pm slot.

Nine’s Afternoon News ties with 10 News First. Nine wins all slots expect Perth for the afternoon slot.

Says something about the news at 10, viewers changing
