The first Friday in 12 weeks without a show over 1 million saw another close result with Nine taking out a narrow win.

The League Semi final drew 600k viewers and was the number one program in Sydney and equal number one in Brisbane.

Better Homes and Gardens was up over 500,000 for the first time in several weeks narrowly ahead of Gardening Australia. Midsomer Murders also helped ABC to improve its share while 10’s was also up despite The Living Rooms slipping below 300k.

It was ABC’s best Friday share in 14 weeks and 10’s best Friday in five weeks. It was Seven’s lowest since February.

Even with live NRL, Nine only managed a narrow win.

How much longer will 9 wait before making the call. Serious potential for this one at 5pm with a local version.

Highly addictive for many it seems.

Nine’s NRL Finals just beat Seven’s line-up… It should have done better. Also, is this the first time since early March that Seven’s Friday line-up is nationally, and not split up by the AFL Season?

Winner: Tipping Point. Amazing to see it appear in the top 20 in the last couple of weeks for a 3pm weekday game-show.

Loser: The Living Room. Unfortunately. It’s on its last legs. Up against Better Homes and Gardening Australia. Living Room should probably just do a series of “specials” next year than a proper series, to help boost up its ratings.

Tipping Point was a good one yesterday, an elderly woman won the 10k & I was so happy for her!

Nine did their 2022 Upfronts this week & unfortunately no mention of an Aussie version

Without AFL, Nine won the night thanks to NRL between Sea Eagles and the Roosters. This game was a blowout.
The NrL ratings would have been higher had roosters been more competitive in the game.

It’s a big call to make, so likely analysing such a move in great detail.

Likely to involve 1-2 years of planning before starting. No real issue with dragging feet I guess, Hot Seat isn’t a disaster, however important they get a local Tipping Point right the first time.

2023 hopefully.

Seven are narrowly ahead of Nine for the week. If Nine can win by a few points on Saturday they can take out the week.

Sunrise made the top 20 on Friday and was almost 40,000 ahead of Today.

For the week Sunrise was just over 20,000 ahead of Today. Compared to the previous week, Sunrise and Today were both very slightly down. News Breakfast dropped +15k.

Compared to Week 38 of 2020, Sunrise was up 6k, while Today was up +20k. News B was unchanged.

Bernadi and McGregor Angle finding a solid audience now in the high 30’s - early 40’s.

Looks like the retooled living room is a flop. They were off air for so long and came back and nobody knew and the new format isn’t the same as it was.

Probably making money from sponsors and in show branding. It doesn’t get much of a lift in total tv either.

3 similar shows competing across one timeslot - 10 may be better off moving it to 6:30PM Saturday

How long did it take Seven to go from running The Chase UK at 3pm to launching their own version at 5pm, maybe a couple of years at the very most?

Probably the biggest challenge for Nine with establishing a local version of Tipping Point would be to find the right host. That and working out how/where to incorporate the obligatory “We’ll find out after the news headlines” window that’s a requirement for all early evening game/quiz shows on Seven & Nine these days.

They could move it to 5pm Fridays and trial it for a month? Then compare to Hot Seat numbers. If successful then an aussie version should be made.

That Sydney audience is quite low. Pretty good numbers in Brisbane though for a change.

I like the idea of a local version of Tipping Point one day, but just not now.

Hot Seat still performs well along the east coast and provides a strong lead in to the 6pm news in those three markets. Too risky to axe it now.

Why would it take 1-2 years of planning before broadcasting an Australian version of The Tipping Point? Owner’s of television formats are usually strict about franchised versions not departing from the standard format. An AU Tipping Point would be a carbon copy of the UK version. The set would be identical. What could be changed except an Australian host? Selecting contestants would not take 12 to 24 months. Does anyone have a realistic timeframe for an Australian version of a relatively simple game show to go from commissioning to broadcast?
