Another close result with Nine taking the night in network shares despite Seven’s main channel rating number one. Nine won all markets except Perth as well as the key demographic groups.

Compared to previous Good Fridays when large parts of the audience were on holidays (or not at home), yesterday saw unprecedented viewing numbers especially for news. ABC’s Gardening Australia was the top non-news show while 10 News First 6pm and Nine Afternoon News made rare top 20 appearances.

Casino Royale ranked 24th and Jamie Oliver was 30th for 10. In Melbourne, the Good Friday Appeal special ranked ninth. The Greatest NRL Grand Finals ranked 30th in Sydney ans 28th in Brisbane.

Seven’s House Rules has seen Seven improve this week but Nine still looks set to easily take the week.

Do you think the fact that Nine remained local and Seven aired a national bulletin had an effect? Were there any noticeable swings?

Is this the first time that a movie on SBS World Movies cracked the top 20? Hunt for the Wilderpeople was 14th, with 134k people watching.

Nine’s Afternoon News made the top 20. Sevens Arvo News didn’t start until 4.10pm due to the Good Friday Service that ran before hand. The starting-time and/or the lead-in helped Nine?

With no Chase UK, Diagnosis Murder at 3pm on 10 Bold made a rare appearance too (came in at 17th place)

Four things: There was no coding for Seven News at 4:30 in Perth (so a 0 in that market). 2. Easter Service provided a lower than usual lead in for Seven. 3. Seven’s EPG was wrong and had Seven News starting at 4pm though it didn’t start until 4:09. 4. Nine Afternoon News Adelaide is at 5pm.
However, despite all these things Nine would probably have won the timeslot because it was local.

Yes. That was one of the interesting numbers in the multi-channels for Good Friday so I thought it worth working out the top 20 for day

Thanks for working out the top 20 in the multi-channels. Always interesting to see what we’re watching on the long weekends.

Thanks for clarifying the afternoon news situation. 4 good points there. I forgot that Adelaide had swapped News with Hot Seat (silly me. lol).

Wow, well done SBS! A record.

Anyone find it interesting that Melbourne viewers seem to be sticking to Millionaire Hot Seat compared to the rest of the states? It’s most likely why we continue to see Nine News Melb with such a high lead.

I think it’s mostly due to The Chase airing repeats while Hot Seat still have new episodes.
