I think they undid that in September 2023. Only Fox 8 and the Fox Sports family remaining with that name (and Fox 8 changed their logo to the current Foxtel font rather than the Fox US font).
Oh god… so, DAZN AFL, DAZN NRL and DAZN Cricket (contract dependent)…and Channel 108? Or a Max-esque ‘return’ of the Austar brand IP?
Or just follow the naming conventions elsewhere and call it DAZN 1-6.
It’s only overdue anyway. League-specific channels don’t have enough first-run during the season outside matchdays, let alone offseason.
I wouldnt be surprised if their sports channels move to Kayo branding
i actually expect a slow transition from the fox sports name to DAZN. starting with DAZN being added to the watermark, than the channels being called “Fox sports by DAZN” until eventually they will become DAZN sports 1-6
I reckon the sports content would be Kayo and everything else that can’t be pinned down with a particular name could be More - like MORE Comedy, MORE Drama, MORE Whatever…
Overall the service could be known as MORE tv. As in “We’re giving you MORE” or “We’re making you pay MORE”.
I am talking out my arse but still.
MORE repeats.
MORE ads.
And ultimately, MORE crap for even MORE money!!
Foxtel Business iQ and MinRes to bring premium Foxtel at-home experience to remote workforces

FOXTEL BUSINESS IQ TO ROLL OUT ACROSS 3,000 REMOTE MINING ACCOMMODATION ROOMS TO DELIVER PREMIUM SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPERIENCE
Foxtel Group today announced an upgraded partnership with Mineral Resources that will bring FOXTEL’s world-class Business iQ device – and the premium FOXTEL at-home experience – to Mineral Resources Limited’s 3,000 room onsite accommodation portfolio.
The expanded agreement will roll out FOXTEL’s unrivalled line-up of premium LIVE and on-demand sport and entertainment including the cricket, AFL, NRL, F1 and Supercars, as well as some of the world’s best entertainment series such as Colin From Accounts, The Day of the Jackal, All Her Fault and Mix Tape, across MinRes’ accommodation facilities*.* It also elevates onsite comfort, connectivity and employee wellbeing across the company’s sites while reinforcing Foxtel Group’s commitment to tailored solutions for large-scale accommodation environments.
With the ability to transmit content over hundreds of kilometres from major towns with limited local bandwidth, FOXTEL’s satellite network offers the most efficient way to deliver premium sport and entertainment, including in up to 4K Ultra HD.
Steve O’Connor, Managing Director of Foxtel Retail, Wholesale, and Commercial at Foxtel Group said: “FOXTEL is thrilled to expand our long-term partnership with MinRes and bring Business iQ to their 3000 plus mining accommodation rooms and camp leisure areas. This shared investment will keep Australia’s most remote workers connected with the best live televised sports and FOXTEL’s full news and entertainment services, and enables MinRes to utilise screens for all staff communication and training needs via our Business iQ platform and easy to use cloud-based operating system.”
FOXTEL Business iQ offers all FOXTEL channels and access to the full on-demand library, with built-in casting from personal devices and an integrated communications system that also allows employers to include custom messaging, safety content, and site information. Each room features a discreet, slimline device installed behind the television, offering HD quality and a seamless viewing experience that helps workers feel at home, supporting workforce wellbeing and engagement.
Scott Randall, Commercial Manager at MinRes, said: “Our people are at the centre of everything we do, and this partnership with Foxtel Group is one of the ways we’re reimagining what life on site can be. Foxtel Business iQ delivers the comfort, entertainment and connection of home into our villages, supporting wellbeing and helping us attract and retain the best people.”
The rollout follows other recent commercial agreements including with The Star Entertainment Group to deploy FOXTEL Business iQ across all their properties, as well as hundreds of independent and regional motels, with Business iQ the perfect fit for all accommodation categories.
Today, more than 60,000 rooms in commercial properties nationwide access sport and entertainment content through the FOXTEL Business iQ, a platform purpose-built for multi-occupancy environments that replicates the best of the Foxtel at-home experience to entertain and engage guests, residents, staff and customers.
That’s a nice perk for some workers who spend a lot of time away from home.
The article notes the same service has been rolled out at a bunch of hotels and motels. I wonder if Foxtel have considered adding a “find a hotel with Foxtel” page to their site. Foxtel might not be the drawcard it once was, but it might still be a nice marketing bonus for the hotels which are undoubtedly paying a hefty fee for the service.
Subscription TV providers spend over $19 million on Australian drama programs in 2024–25
According to new data from the ACMA, subscription TV licensees and channel providers spent a total of $19.09 million on new Australian drama programs in the 2024–25 financial year, down from $32.54 million in 2023–24.
The subscription television new eligible drama expenditure (NEDE) compliance results also showed all five subscription TV licensees and channel providers met the minimum requirements of the scheme.
Under the NEDE rules, subscription TV licensees that broadcast drama channels are required to invest a minimum of 10 per cent of their total expenditure in new Australian drama programs. This requirement also applies to channel providers – companies that provide drama channels to subscription TV licensees in Australia.
In 2024–25, subscription TV licensees and channel providers spent $80.2 million as total program expenditure on drama channels. This resulted in an aggregated NEDE target of $8.02 million for 2024–25, down from $10.63 million in 2023–24.
The rules allow for the expenditure obligation to be incurred in one year and acquitted in either the same financial year or the following year. This means that any annual shortfalls and surpluses can be carried across to the following financial year.
In order to be compliant with the rules, in each financial year licensees and channel providers must acquit their previous financial year’s shortfall for each drama channel.
There was no expenditure shortfall in 2023–24 that subscription TV licensees and channel providers were required to acquit in 2024–25. Licensees and channel providers also met all the current year’s expenditure requirements under the NEDE scheme leaving no expenditure shortfall to be made up in 2025–26.
could also drive subs as well - if someone is in whoop-de-doo at a mining camp with fox in there donga and they get used to it in those 2 weeks off they might sign up for it at home.
Many years ago they did this - it was basically the CNN partner hotel concept. IF they did this, i feel like they need a minimum subset of channels. i think it should be the folliwng:
1 - all fox sports channels
2 - Sky News, CNN and CNBC
3 - Fox 8, lifestyle and arena
4 - music channels
i feel like this is a good starting point - all sports are a must,. i once stayed a hotel that was walking distance to marvel stadium in melbourne that had foxtel and a few fox sports channels but no AFL channel .was baflfing.
With lots of hotels dropping Foxtel (presumably to save money), it would be handy to know what places to have it and what ones dont
Nice market for Foxtel to target, and knowing people who do this sort of work that have permanent accommodation at sites I can’t see any negatives.
