Foxtel’s massive 2019 programming line-up includes three new local dramas, the final season of global phenomenon Game of Thrones , returning Lifestyle favourites including a landmark 12th season of Selling Houses Australia , and a gripping new crime series – Ron Iddles: The Good Cop – among the huge range of content.

The giant ad-free summer cricket schedule will kick off an incredible year of live sport available in both HD and 4K. The NRL and AFL premiership seasons return to Foxtel in March with every game of both codes live and ad break free during play. Supercars, Formula 1, Rugby Union, A-League, NBA and the Super Bowl will also feature in Foxtel’s must-see sport offering.

2019 will also see a blockbuster year of movies on Foxtel including all the box office favourites from the major studios as well as more than 1000 premium On Demand movies available to stream on Fox Flicks (iQ3 and iQ4 boxes), Foxtel Go and Foxtel Now. In January, special movie events include an Aussies in Film pop-up channel over the Australia Day weekend featuring Thor: Ragnarok and I, Tonya.

Lambs of God – FOX SHOWCASE

On a remote island, three Catholic nuns are the last remaining members of the enclosed order of St. Agnes. Forgotten by the rest of the world, they live in a dilapidated monastery, where wild vegetation grows out of stone angels and sheep wander freely through the chapel. Based on the captivating Australian novel by Marele Day, the twisted and macabre tale is brought to life on screen by an international all-star cast, led by Emmy Award-winning actress Ann Dowd ( The Handmaids T a le , The Left o vers ), fresh off her groundbreaking slate of five films at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Dowd is joined by Australian stage and screen star Essie Davies ( The Ba badook ) , and UK actress, Jessica Barden ( The End Of The F*****World, The Lobster ) who, as the three Sisters of St Agnes, must defend their lives, existence, and beliefs when the handsome priest, played by actor Sam Reid ( The Railway Main , Belle , An o nym o us) attempts to sell their dilapidated monastery. Upright – FOX SHOWCASE

Commissioned by Foxtel in Australia and Sky in the UK, Uprigh t is a warm and touching eight- part drama about two misfits, thrown together by chance in the middle of the Australian desert, forging the unlikeliest of bonds in their quest to get a precious piano from one side of the country to the other. Internationally renowned and multi-award-winning artist Tim Minchin ( M at il da the Musical , Ro b in Hood ) stars as Lucky Flynn, a gifted pianist who hasn’t spoken to his family in years – broke, distant, and damaged. When he learns that his mother has only days left to live, Lucky sets off in a hire car to drive the 4,000km to say goodbye, taking with him his only cherished possession in the world: a battered and scarred upright piano. Along the journey, he literally runs into Meg, played by newcomer Milly Alcock, a hilarious, tough-as-nails teenager, who has plenty of scars and secrets of her own.

English-born, Australian actress, Frances O’Connor plays Dr Kate Brennan , a senior registrar specialising in palliative care medicine. Euthanasia is a hot-button topic in Kate’s field of work and Kate is passionate in her opposition. On the other side of the world, Kate’s mother Edie Henley (Harriet Walter) is just as passionate about her right to die. Kate has little choice but to ship Edie out from England and deposit her in a nearby retirement village – Edie’s worst nightmare. While Kate struggles with her own problems, her children are trying to work out who they are, and who they want to be. The En d is about Kate and Edie’s stumbling, fractious journey as they find their way back to a relationship. It’s a story about parents and children, ethics and emotion, and mostly how it’s never too late to start again. Secret City: Under The Eagle – FOX SHOWCASE

Secr et Ci t y: Under the Eagle picks up with Harriet Dunkley (Anna Torv), not long out of prison and who is unwittingly ensnared in a military and political cover-up with Catriona Bailey’s (Jacki Weaver) fingerprints all over it. Harriet’s search for the truth leads her back into Canberra’s corridors of power, this time working for a maverick Independent MP (Danielle Cormack). What she unearths is a military program so secret not even the Prime Minister knows about. Who is really running the country? Also stars Don Hany, Andrew McFarlane, Rob Collins, Sacha Horler, and Marcus Graham.

Wentworth S7 – FOX SHOWCASE

Season 7 of the multi award-winning drama W en tw o rt h returns with the prison on the brink of imploding as the fiery confrontation between the two emerging titans, Rita and Marie, is imminent after series 6’s bloody finale. With the case of Joan Ferguson presumably closed, a significantly pregnant Vera and her co-conspirators in the Freak’s demise, Will and Jake, are off the hook, at least for now. Mr Inbetween S2 – FOX SHOWCASE

Mr Inbetween , the Australian drama series created by and starring Scott Ryan as the criminal- for-hire “Ray Shoesmith”, has been renewed for a second season. Ryan returns as the charismatic yet volatile hitman navigating his chilling business while also maintaining friendships, parental responsibilities and a fledging romance: tough roles to juggle in the modern age and even harder when you’re a criminal for hire.

True Detective S3 – FOX SHOWCASE from Monday, January 14 at 8:30pm

Creator Nic Pizzolatto is taking his anthology series to the Ozarks for Season 3. Stephen Dorff ( Somewher e, Imm o r ta ls ) is Arkansas State Investigator Roland West, joining Oscar winner Mahershala Ali ( M oo nli g h t , H o use o f Cards) in the eight-part series that follows the story of partner detectives investigating a macabre crime involving two missing children. The story spans three decades.

Mr Mercedes S2 – FOX SHOWCASE from Monday, January 21 at 9:30pm

A year after his thwarted attempt to perpetrate a second mass murder in the community of Bridgton, Ohio, Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway) remains hospitalised in a vegetative state. Retired Detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) has done his best to move on from his Brady obsession, teaming up with Holly Gibney (Justine Lupe) to open Finders Keepers, a private investigative agency. But when unexplainable occurrences begin to affect hospital staff members attending to Brady, Hodges is nagged by the feeling that Brady is somehow responsible. Big Little Lies S2 – FOX SHOWCASE

Based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel, and starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz, the breakout hit HBO drama series returns for a second seven-episode season and continues exploring the intriguing lives of the Monterey, California families. The brand-new season, again conceived by Moriarty, also sees iconic Oscar- winning actress Meryl Streep join the stellar cast as the mother-in-law of Celeste (played by Kidman). Big Little Lies became one of the most talked about shows on television when it premiered and won eight primetime Emmy awards.

War of the Worlds – FOX SHOWCASE in January

This epic three-part drama series is the latest adaptation of H.G. Wells’ seminal tale – the first alien invasion story in literature. Set in Edwardian England, the series follows George (Rafe Spall) and his partner Amy (Eleanor Tomlinson) as they attempt to defy society and start a life together. Rupert Graves stars as Frederick, George’s elder brother, and Robert Carlyle plays Ogilvy, an astronomer and scientist. The series tells their story as they face the escalating terror of an alien invasion, fighting for their lives against an enemy beyond their comprehension.

The Sopranos 20th Anniversary – On Demand in January

To mark the 20th anniversary of HBO’s television classic The S op r a n o s , every season will be available to stream On Demand in January. The smash-hit crime drama series revolves around anti-hero Tony Soprano (played by the late James Galdofini), a husband, father, and mob boss juggling the problems of his fractious family with those of a family of a different sort – the mob. Exploring personal and professional power struggles, affairs, violence, and betrayal, The So p r a n o s has been hailed as one of the greatest television shows of all time.

Chernobyl – FOX SHOWCASE

Starring Emily Watson, Jared Harris, and Stellan Skarsgård, the powerful five-part mini-series is based on the real-life events of the catastrophic nuclear accident of 1986 that shocked the world. Co-produced by HBO and Sky, the drama focuses on the stories of the people who sacrificed to save Europe from disaster. Harris ( Mad Men, The Cr o wn ) stars as Valery Legasov, the Soviet scientist chosen by the Kremlin to investigate the accident, while Skarsgård ( Melancholia, Good Will Hunting ) plays Boris Shcherbina, the man responsible for leading the USSR government commission in the wake of the disaster. Devs – FOX SHOWCASE

Devs is a new eight-part series from FX that follows a young computer engineer, Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), as she investigates the secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, who she believes is behind the murder of her boyfriend. Also stars Nick Offerman and Zach Grenier.

Fosse/Verdon – FOX SHOWCASE

Fosse/Verdon is based on Fosse, the biography written by Sam Wasson. The eight-part limited series tells the story of the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams). He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theatre’s most influential choreographers and directors. She was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment — at a perilous cost. Featuring Fosse’s choreography, the series explores the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.

This 10-episode spinoff of the international hit series Pr ett y Li tt le Liars is from executive producer/writer I. Marlene King, based on the Alloy Entertainment book series. Set in Beacon Heights, a seemingly perfect town, the series revolves around a group of three college friends who struggle with the stress of being overachievers. In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi. Sasha Pieterse returns as Alison DiLaurentis and Janel Parrish as Mona Vanderwaal, joined by Sofia Carson, Sydney Park, Eli Brown, Graeme Thomas King, Hayley Erin, Chris Mason, and Kelly Rutherford.

Magnum P.I. – FOX8

Magnum P.I. is a modern take on the classic series centring on Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator.
