Expect a STV record (for an afternoon) to be broken tomorrow, when Richmond and Collingwood play in one of the most anticipated games.
Because of the âtraditionalâ slot of MCG Saturday early 1:45pm and the teams, it is a Fox Footy exclusive game nationally. Pubs/bars will also be packed.
Finals always rate higher even if theyâre simulcasted
Donât see that game doing over 550k.
I said for an afternoon (proper), which also excludes twilight.
Whatâs the record?
Highest I could find was last yearâs Prelim between Rich and GWS, which was 552k. Iâm not sure if itâs the record or not.
552,000 for the Richmond-GWS preliminary final last year is indeed the pay TV record audience for an AFL match.
Any AFL or NRL match in fact.
Saturday 1.45pm isnât classed as being in an afternoon timeslot, Itâs deemed as early by the AFL (anything prior to 2pm EDT/EST). Saturday 2.10pm is the afternoon slot.
Early = before 2pm
Afternoon = between 2pm and 4pm
Twilight = between 4pm and 5pm
Night = after 5pm.
This is from their fixture guide.
All the radio stations will be at this match, expect for SEN, which must cover the Lions-Cats match.
Are the code wars really necessary in an AFL-discussion thread?
SEN donât cover AFL, AFL Nation do. And they, like ABC and Triple M, will be covering both matches anyway.
K Rock wonât be covering the MCG game, theyâll be at Kardinia Park.
Interesting, I thought twilight was post 3pm, hence the yellow footy and most matches finishing in darkness outside of March.
Yeah itâs a silly system. ADST/AEST regardless of where the game is.
Alistair Lynch had a slip of the tongue during this afternoonâs North Melbourne-West Coast in Hobart.
It is confirmed that FOX Footy will exclusively televise Richmond v Western Bulldogs match (MCG), and the St Kilda v North melbourne match (Etihad Stadium)
When the fixture was released it was announced which broadcaster was host for each match. Why only put two games here?
In round 23 announced today, Fox are the host broadcaster for the following:
Geelong v Gold Coast
Richmond v Western Bulldogs
Fremantle v Collingwood
Carlton v Adelaide
Brisbane v West Coast
St Kilda v North Melbourne
Means Fox have been host broadcaster for 21 games of both Brisbane and Gold Coast this season.
Richmond v Collingwood ended up not even being the highest rating game on Fox over the weekend!
