Fox Footy

I stand corrected, genuinely sounded like he was remote on the broadcast.

Thursday’s Western Bulldogs v GWS game will be available in Hindi commentary via Fox Sports 507.

Fox Sports 505 will carry the Mandarin commentary of the Round 22 clash between the Brisbane Lions and Sydney on August 9.

Is Dwayne Russell a nice guy I asked him a question about Justin Longmuir Fremantle getting the sack last year he seemed friendly.

Very friendly and approachable.

On his radio show, he always mentions that to come say hello if you see him out and about. Class act in my book.

Looks like during last nights post game show there was a cut to the 7 post game with Nick & Hamish

Another low-energy call for a Swans game from Fox - it really feels like the need to commentate every game (and some pretty dour games) is starting to take its toll on the commentators.

After taking Friday off, Gerard Whateley is back to call the Collingwood v Brisbane game.
Hope he’s up for it, didn’t sound great earlier in the week on AFL 360.

Looking forward to seeing how Fox try and spin Essendon v Carlton into an exciting can’t-miss spectacle.

Looks like Fox is losing a member of their WA commentary

He’s starting at Sydney at season’s end, so will still be available for Fox for the rest of the season. There is probably a conflict of interest for R24 WCE v Swans, so I expect Simmo and a Melbourne talent in specials, with Schofield on the boundary as Kath should be in Melb for SSL.

As the result of the round 24 men’s fixture, the starting times of two AFLW matches on Sunday, August 24 have also been changed.

The Richmond v Western Bulldogs match at Ikon Park will start at 12.35pm AEST instead of 3.05pm, while the Essendon v West Coast game at Windy Hill will begin at 2.35pm AEST instead of 1.05pm.

Both matches are produced by Foxtel. Bombers v Eagles will also be shown in WA on 7mate, overlapping with the men’s match between the Bulldogs and the Dockers on the main channel.

If this stayed the same then there would have been no overlap.

Nick names used for Fox Cricket. I know Fox footy went back to it but I think Fox Cricket would of been more awkward with no nick names

If I’m reading the EPG correctly, an unusual arrangement will be happening this Friday night.

504 will show ESS/STK then opt out for FRE/BRI in its entirety.
503 will show ESS/STK in its entirety then switch to in-progress FRE/BRI.

Coverage from the pregame to the end of postgame is on both 504 and 503.

Their current setup (in this case, what 503 does) works fine, so not sure what the point of this is.

The assumption to be made here is that FRE/BRI is the more compelling match-up, but because ESS/STK is on first, that has to be on Fox Footy as there’s no other match at that time.
I’ve seen them do something similar on the rare sunday when the 3:20 (now 3:15) game was the priority for Fox; instead of having the 1:10 & 4:40 games on 504 & the 3:20 game on 503 like normal, they’d have the early and late games on both channels with coverage of the 3:20 game cutting in on 504 at about 3QT of the early game.

I think there’s an alternative route they could do here.

504, as the home of footy, should broadcast the first AFL(W) match of the day, in a similar style to 502. Convenient enough, there’s an AFLW game between SYD and RIC that will bounce at 6:15.

That game ends around 8:10-8:15, which gives 504 about a 20 minute space for the pregame of FRE/BRI if they absolutely want to air it on there. Let ESS/STK go out in its entirety on 503 as a standalone.

This probably would flow better than the current “2 Fox Footies” setup that forces the AFLW game to be on 505.
