12 matches have been won in the last 2 overs (10 matches in the last 6 balls)
2 matches have been won by under 10 runs
so overall 14/30 matches have been decided close to the last over. It’s almost 50% so that’s not too bad.
I just feel like Fox so far haven’t cared too much about the BBL. 7 being the world feed does hype it up and put effort into the production like talking with people in the crowd taking catches or more player interactions during the game.
This stuff made BBL so fun on 10. The celeb crowd catch platform from their first season was great!
More fun is definitely needed. I do think a comedian in the box is helpful as a 4th voice. I’m surprised 7 hasn’t already done this more - it was great the one time they used Nazeem Hussein.
One way to figure it out, among others, is to look at the backdrop in the comm box.
If it’s the colorful cardboard mosaic, they’re at the ground.
If it’s got the team colors, logos and fancy led lighting, it’s in the studio.
Seems both games today are shoddy off-tube jobs. Another way to tell is if the presenter at the ground is interviewing a pundit who is not part of the main commentary team. It was Eloise Sohier with Brad Haddin at the SCG earlier and Kath Loughnan with Jason Gillespie at the Adelaide Oval now.
If the commentary team was in the city the match was taking place in you would think they would be at the ground. Be silly if for a match at the SCG tht they would call it from the Clive Churchill Studio.
Adelaide not so sure about.
The thing that gets me is that broadcasters don’t even try to hide it anymore.
At what point do we start asking if it is a secret clause in the broadcast deal, host broadcaster is the only one allowed to be at the ground for a game?
Well I don’t think that’s right since they will be at the ground for all of the finals series and I think might have been at the ground for 1-2 matches that 7 called and were host
Fox mentioned ‘the host broadcaster’ after an umpire referral for a catch.
Of course, it was in the context of Fox having a better angle on that catch than the two ch7 had to show the 3rd umpire.
It was that “that was the Fox angle & not available to the host broadcaster”.
Fox angle with their camera being directly behind the fielder where it happened was more clear but the decision wouldn’t have changed because it was still between frames. But Fox was more clear since the camera was directly behind.
