Haven’t checked the Championship table for a while, gee there’s some big clubs fighting relegation there - Leicester, Portsmouth, West Brom and even Blackburn a chance of going down.
Imagine if Wrexham got promoted - people will be insufferable.
Only plus side would be seeing them get absolutely poleaxed and record a record low EPL points tally.
Legendary Romanian coach has died at the age of 80.
Text on the right: “Mircea Lucescu had been hospitalized at the University Emergency Hospital Bucharest since the end of March, after he fell ill at the training camp in Mogoșoaia.”
Wish granted - Wrexham got thrashed 5-1 by Southampton early this morning and lost the last promotion playoff spot to them.
One point difference and 4 matchdays left. Things can change.
Lucescu had a lengthy coaching career and was in his second spell with the Romanian national team until stepping down last Thursday after falling ill during training. Three days earlier, Romania had missed out on qualification to the 2026 World Cup after losing 1-0 to Turkey in a playoff.
Actually Wrexham have 5 matches left and Southampton 6.
And Southampton have a two point difference on Wrexham, not one. Let’s work on the basic facts.
Japan has continued their dominance over Australia in women’s football, defeating the Young Matildas 5-2 in AFC U20 Asian Cup in Thailand.
They’ll face DPR Korea in the first knockout round.
Featuring 4 Aussies + 1 Aussie repping UEFA!
I raised this issue a few weeks ago. Difference with 2015 and 2027 is that Perth has a new stadium and hosted the recently-completed women’s edition. Ten/Paramount would love a home Men’s Asian Cup in January 2027 on the back of the Women’s Asian Cup last month
During that time of year, I assume that the new Perth Stadium would be in use by the Perth Scorchers of the Big Bash League, so any stadium used by BBL teams have been ruled out. The most likely venues that can be used include AAMI Park in Melbourne, Accor Stadium and the SFS in Sydney and the Cauldron in Brisbane, maybe Canberra Stadium and Robina Stadium.
The dates for this month’s FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley have been set.
Saturday April 25: Manchester City v Southampton (5.15pm BST / 2.15am AEST Sunday)
Sunday April 26: Chelsea v Leeds United (3pm BST / 12.00am AEST Monday)
Yep. Perth Scorchers can relocate to Manuka if Optus Stadium is selected. Perth didn’t host any matches the last time the Men’s Asian Cup was in Australia.
Glory and Western Force moved out of HBF Park earlier this year during the Women’s Asian Cup. I know West Aussies won’t like to see their beloved cricket team head east next summer for a football tournament
Perth relocated in 2021-22 after just one match at home due to COVID of course. Scorchers would have to do so after Boxing Day. The Women’s Asian Cup forced the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle to play Round 1 away from Perth last month. Relocation for the Scorchers will not go down well with fans
With West Ham’s massive beatdown of Wolves by a scoreline of 4-0, Tottenham is officially in relegation territory for the first time since January 2009.
Spurs will face Sunderland tomorrow at 11pm AEST to try for their first EPL win in 2026.
Spurs probably ruing the day the sacked Ange.
Arsenal couldn’t stop bottling. They just lost 1-2 to Bournemouth.
For the victors, it’s an addition to their case for an European spot.
A massive hit in the Gunners’ morale ahead of their biggest match of the season next week vs. Man City (Monday Apr 20, 1.30am AEST).
both will be playing Europe regardless
