Fetch TV

Possibly not a big surprise…

10 has an existing Nickelodeon channel, so the axing of the pay TV version was not a surprise.

But I am not sure why Paramount wanted to remove the MTV brand entirely from Australia?

Move it to P+?

Unless Nick & MTV become a timeshare channel on FTA

Given P+ is already available on Fetch, perhaps Fetch could have added that some Nickelodeon and MTV programming would continue to be available on the app after November 1.

How many people are on P+ on Fetch? I was thinking ahout how they could roll out MTV channels onto P+. They could ring fence it so that for Fetch users to access those channels, they’ll need to get a separate P+ sub and access to the app.

Just spit balling here.

I can’t see Nick & MTV timesharing as currently Nick@Nite has a mix of good movies and be a temu 10 at night with comedy shows.

Do we have to keep giving free mentions to that website when you just want to say cheap?

But it saves me one singular letter in typing :stuck_out_tongue:

Disappointing that Paramount have decided to do this. It follows what Disney did with the National Geographic channels a few years ago.

Now it makes sense why Fetch did a deal with Stingray to bring its channels to Australia.

However MTV 90s, 00s and Club MTV were very good and these will be hard to replace. Clubland TV is one option (Universal Music Group) and Stingray Vibe and Juicebox are others that might go some way to replacing the MTV branded channels.

I’m pretty certain these channels (and the other MTV multi channels) are closing down altogether at the end of this year. Assuming the Fetch feeds are the same ones I get, they’re all ad free, which has long surprised me.

I think Paramount will start to phase out MTV as a channel around the world. MTV Germany was the last holdout - they still played music, and really good music, too - but even they are moving away from that now. The latest I read was that Skydance want to refocus the MTV brand towards live events and tastemaking. It’s hard to see where endless repeats of Ridiculousness, Cribs and the Shore franchise fit into this.

On the day that nine Paramount-owned channels are leaving the platform, Fetch emailed me announcing a new channel.

We’re writing to let you know that Cartoon Network is now available on Fetch (subscription to the relevant channel pack is required to access the new channels).

Keep your kids entertained with all-time favourites like Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, We Bare Bears and more.

If you’re subscribed to the Ultimate Pack, Kids Pack or Entertainment Pack, the channel is now automatically available to you.

Cheers,
The Fetch Team

I wouldn’t call it a comeback after leaving Foxtel in May 2025 - it’s another Virtual Playlist Channel. But if you want your fill of The Amazing World of Gumball without subscribing to HBO Max, you’ll find it on channel 249.

The Telstra TV Roku device was fantastic. Was sad when Telstra killed it off. I did look into Fetch, but as it did not have Foxtel Now, I steered clear of it. Have since migrated to Google TV Streamer, which along with its Playstore App Store has many of the Apps I had on Telstra TV and more. Although it took Foxtel over 10 months to get Foxtel Now working on Google TV Streamer. Like Telstra TV Roku before it, I use the Google TV Streamer to plug into Hotel TV HMDI port and use hotel Wi-Fi to connect to what I need when travelling and also link back to my NAS at home via Plex. Fetch would never have been a suitable replacement at all for my needs.

Another email from Fetch announcing a new channel:

We’re writing to let you know that XXtreme Jobs is now available on Fetch (subscription to the relevant channel pack is required to access the new channels).

Watch on the edge of your seat as you learn about the thrilling ins and outs of the world’s most extreme jobs! From maritime to police units, Alaska to the underground — we’ve got it all covered.

If you’re subscribed to the Ultimate Pack, Vibe Pack or Entertainment Pack, this channel is now automatically available to you.

Cheers,
The Fetch Team

It’s another Virtual Playlist Channel, on channel 120. The shows (Alaska: The Last Frontier, Bering Sea Gold, Body Cam, Border Control: Europe, Border Control: Spain, Kings of Construction, Lone Star Law, Maritime Masters, Yukon Men, and - of course - Dirty Jobs) look to be from Warner Bros. Discovery, who are also using the XXtreme Jobs name for a FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus in India.

As for the name:
Xtreme Jobs Not extreme enough
XXtreme Jobs Just right
XXXtreme Jobs Too extreme, plus everyone’ll think that it’s porn
