Driving & Traffic

Pork’n’Ride was always ridiculous; promising to build ‘commuter’ car parks many of which were kilometres away from train stations.

Now it’s more broken promises from the Morrison government; I wonder how many voters will be fooled again by election year announcements which will (again) never be delivered.

It’s Labor Day long weekend here in Victoria and unleaded petrol is already selling at over $2.20 per litre at some service stations. Could we see $2.40 or even $2.50?

Price of oil is too volatile now to say. Wholesale ULP prices will crack $2/L next week and diesel is already at $2.1/L, but with the price of oil already 20% lower than the start of the week how long the peak of the prices will stick around for is hard to say.

I’ll really have to limit unnecessary car trips from now on , if petrol prices will be around $2 a litre .Walk to local Coles and Woolies with my shopping trolley so I can carry more items in one go😕
Maybe consider using PT sometimes, still need to drive to work as I start at 6am and travelling by public transport wouldn’t get me there in time as I have to travel on 2 buses or 2 trains to get to Salisbury from Morningside

I’ve restricted my travel to work mainly and nearby shops on the way home. Unleaded is currently sitting at $2.07 here.

My car has a thirsty V6 3.6L engine so I’m looking at downsizing at this stage honestly.

In some markets already, we’ve seen petrol prices fluctuate by a full dollar per litre over the last 12 months

The crude price volatility will keep prices high for a while - it doesn’t help that the market hasn’t found a rhythm since the covid related lows early in 2020

I’ve limited my driving for work and the shops. Thinking of investing in a quadracycle.

Best thing I did was buy a Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2 years ago.
Usually get over 850km per tank, and only needs 40 litres to fill up.

I work at a servo, thankfully I haven’t been abused by customers, most know it’s not my fault prices are high. Also no theft yet that I’m aware of as well

I should have kept my 2009 Toyota Yaris that only had a 45 litre fuel tank ,My Mitsubishi ASX has a 60 litre tank
My next car (if I get another one) will be electric or hybrid

The Victorian Government should do a similar thing for the Montague Street bridge in South Melbourne.
