Not the VicRoads control room social media team having a subtle dig at a network partner this morning But so true! Unbelievable decision from Lendlease.
Itâs not that often Brisbane traffic makes the national morning shows - perhaps because there was wine involved -seemed to be an important part of the narrative
Melton City Council is also pushing for the upgrade of the Western Freeway, which has received $1 billion in funding from the federal Albanese government but has no start date.
The state and federal governments committed $10 million each in late 2022 to develop a business case to upgrade the Western Freeway between Melton and Caroline Springs with additional lanes, and new interchanges and overpasses.
Premier Jacinta Allan told (the West of Melbourne summit on Thursday) the Victorian government had not put the upgrade of the Western Freeway between Caroline Springs and Melton on hold, but declined to provide a date on when works would start.
Allan said planning and environmental approvals were under way.
The big roundabout at the intersection of Greensborough Bypass, Diamond Creek Road and Civic Drive in Greensborough, has been rated Melbourneâs most dangerous intersection, in the 2025 My Melbourne Road survey.
EDIT: here are RACVâs suggestions to improve the intersection (excerpt from the survey results)
I did the Great Alpine Road up to Mt Hotham today (going south east from the inland end) and the last 10 kilometres or so (last 7 minutes in this video from another YouTuber) is some of the most spectacular road scenery Iâve ever driven. I didnât see as much snow as this but still pretty awesome just the same.
So go to about 39:40 onwards in this for the best bit.
Drove from Lakes Entrance VIC to Canberra today with a lunch stop at Bombala NSW. A distance of 420 km and a total travel time of just under 6 hours including lunch.
Feels odd to think that covers three states/territories in such a short distance when you think how big Australia is and only has eight states/territories in total.
Picked up my new car on Saturday. brought a 2023 MG ZS EV excite (the upgraded model with the sunroof, heated seats and rain sensing wipers) with less than 20,000 km on it for under $25,000. had a sparkie come out last week and out in a EV charger so i can get a full 300km for under $20.
Thatâs good, good luck, if you charge using off peak, it should (I believe) only cost about $3 per 100 kms (or $9 as above). Even less if you have solar panels.
And if you have the time, charging usung a standard household socket should extend the life of your battery.
we are hitting the point where a lot of EVâs that were feet buys - Novated leasing, rental cars, etc re starting to hit the secondhand market and it will only increase as price pressures of the Chinese made EVâs (which are actually quite good) come in. BYD will be soon releasing the atto 1 which will be a good little city runabout for $25000. i expect on the second hand market they will be sub $15,000 in 2 years and that will ba a real reckoning for the market
Agree, Iâd be interested in an EV if i could access even standard AC chargjng at home, my car (Mazda 6) resides in a basement car park where there isnât any.
Depending on how much you drive you wonât need to charge every day probably once a week to once every two weeks. Alot of shopping centres have EV charging and it isnât that expensive or take that long. By the time you have done some shopping your car would be charged. In about 30 to 45 minutes. It would cost about $20 to charge from say 15 percent to 100. That is cheaper than petrol probably by a factor of half. But yes if you can charge at home and have a smart meter it can be quite a bit cheaper if you schedule the charging out of peak hours.
Depends on the battery the newer cars donât have those sorts requirements or the requirement to charge to 80 per cent to preserve the battery. There are also pole based charging available which is much slower as well.
