Did They Really Just Play That?

It was part of the Oztober Top 50 Australian Artists

Yeah I know. Still not on board. There are easily 50 Australian artists that better fit the format than Slim Dusty

Would still prefer Slim Dusty to the other stuff they regularly play. Didn’t sound too out of place to me.

They should play “Duncan” a bit more, i prefer that one.

About 12 months ago some bright spark at work put Triple J on the radio. They played a Hi 5 song. I don’t remember which one it was

Another (not so bright) spark once decided to put Triple J on our PABX “on hold” music at work back in the 90s.

We got complaints about the swearing in songs, so it promptly got changed back to KOFM.

Likely during Requestival, which is when I love listening to JJJ

Agree, that’s the time I’m most likely to listen to Triple J too.

That was during Requestival in 2022 with L-O-V-E?

Heard “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr on MMM GOLD 92.5 FM not too long ago as part of Halloween being today. A bit of a ghoulish delivery from the Triple M regionals there!

“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” Sunshine FM

Heard Champagne Supernova - Oasis this morning on Nova 100!

Obviously the Oasis reunion/tour has increased interest in the band, but I’d thought they’d go for a safer choice like Wonderwall or Don’t Look Back In Anger. No complaints from me though, it’s a fantastic song.

Not sure if this really belongs here, but towards the end of Seven’s WBBL coverage last night, the song “House on Fire” by Mimi Webb was played as it went into an ad break.

On Triple M’s Nights with Dave Gleeson on the “Classic 9 at 9” with the theme being songs related to space played a few minutes ago was The Firm’s novelty song “Star Trekkin’” from 1987. A bizarre classic if I say so myself!

Heard “Ocean Drive” by Duke Dumont on Triple M Central Coast 107.7 FM just now. Just nearly ten years ago this song was on Triple J very frequently and despite this song being more of a HIT Network song, it’s kind of bizarre hearing this on Triple M regional networks nowadays.

Nah. I played this quite often on regional Ms

Agree, regular to my ears too. Still a good song though, better than most songs released in the last 10 years.

For me that’s a candidate for “Not that Song Again” despite not being played as often these days

The Take Over, the Breaks Over by Fall Out Boy was played on Triple M Melbourne yesterday. Interesting choice because it was a minor hit in 2007 and never gets played, certainly standing out in the middle of a safe playlist of primarily older songs. I had never heard it before and assumed it was a new song from them.
