It should be from the start .
I think Brett Sprigg is calling from Sydney where he lives and works for the ABC.
Ben Cameron said during the coverage today that every match of T20 World Cup would be broadcast on ABC Listen app, with selected matches also live on ABC Local Radio and ABC Sport Digital.
And now Kim Hughes is apparently off to Sydney tomorrow but Ben Cameron just said they (assuming the Perth team) will all be back Thursday so who knows what their logistics are haha
Kim Hughes could join Brett Sprigg at the ABC HQ in Sydney and call the second ODI together.
Details of SEN’s coverage of T20 World Cup across Australia and NZ, which will also act as the world feed.
So it will be sponsor less (as in during the actual commentary)?
Wow I don’t have a radio to tune into Mount Gambier?
SEN Mt Gambier 1929am
It’s a typo. The actual frequency for SEN Mount Gambier is 1629AM.
I am surprised there is no SEN Canberra on the X-band frequencies. Presently there is nothing on air from 1611-1701 kHz down here. No such problem with getting SEN Track on air (1323), though.
I have to rely on skywave from either 1116 or 1170 to get the cricket commentary here. That sucks. Mind you in Bungendore, the X-band is frequently a mish-mash of signals…
It’s more about the license. A ‘narrowcast’/niche license for racing is cheaper I believe than a general sports station.
True, but SEN Adelaide is on a MF NAS (X-band) frequency, as is Mount Gambier. So it could be done.
Perhaps more to do with it being an ICC tournament where they’re protective to a fault of their (mainly) subcontinental based sponsors.
According to Corbin Middlemas on ABC Radio Melbourne today, ABC Local Radio in AFL states will broadcast the third and final ODI between Australia and New Zealand today from 2pm AEST, which is also Aussie captain Aaron Finch’s last one-day game.
Local Radio in NSW and Queensland will broadcast the NRLW and then the NRL elimination final between Sydney Roosters and South Sydney. They may join the cricket for the run chase tonight.
The cricket match will also be broadcast in full on ABC Sport Digital and ABC Listen app.
The Perth team (plus Brett Sprigg in Sydney) is again calling the match.
ABC sports digital in Sydney has the footy. SEN Melbourne in Sydney has the cricket.
There is a commentator on ABC Radio’s commentary team for today’s ODI game whose name I fail to catch. His name sounds like Akash and his colleagues call his nickname Cash. Does anyone know his real name?
I haven’t been listening today but it might be Prakash Wakankar?

He does commentary for TMS on the BBC too sometimes so he might be over here in preparation for the India T20 series and the T20 World Cup.
Edit: Listening just before, it wasn’t him. No idea who it would be unfortunately.
Edit II: A bit of research would suggest the most likely candidate is Akash Fotedar, who is a producer with ABC Radio Perth (where this coverage is being produced and called off-tube).

Yes, that’s Akash Fotedar. Thanks for your help.
Looks like the ABC gave him time to call some cricket yesterday, as he may be required to commentate the preliminary round of ICC T20 World Cup at Hobart and Geelong next month.
Like Fox Cricket, ABC Radio has a full team at Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium for the first T20 clash between Australia and West Indies. Quentin Hull, Corbin Middlemas, Ben Cutting and Kirsten Pike are the commentators for the two-match series.
Quentin Hull and Ben Cutting
SEN were in the studio but at least the commentators didn’t try to pretend they were at the stadium. They made that fact very clear several times during the broadcast.
