Yeah it’s very quiet for such a vibrant community.
KLFM in Bendigo revealed yesterday on Facebook that it would broadcast Sportsday Victoria from last night. It would take the first hour from 6pm to 7pm, same as 3AW in Melbourne.
KLFM is introducing a new show. Sports Day kicks off this week from 6 to 7pm and is proudly sponsored by Red Energy. Red Energy’s sponsorship helps ensure KLFM stays on air and helps pay our bills. Our new Weekday line up, afternoons will now run from 2pm to 4pm, Drive with Mike Tobin runs from 4 to 6, then Sports Day from 6 till 7 then our specialist shows run from 7pm as per normal. Sports Day runs Monday to Thursday. Thank you to all the people that have asked for a sports show for many many years, and now as mentioned, with thanks to Red Energy, we can now bring this show to you, and as said, help pay our bills and keep us on air to present the many programmes people enjoy. Many thanks to Red Energy for making this happen.
Not surprising given KLFM’s association with 3AW. Would make more sense to air on Fresh FM though.
Here’s a novel idea for them, Red Energy could simply sponsor to cover the amount of power bills. That would be much more community radio goodwill building, “thanks Red Energy, proud sponsor, for paying our power bills, keeping us on air year round”.
Thanks, I read their Wiki entry, strange they didn’t go for it. Seemed to have tumultuous past. Perhaps keeping low key with more local sports programming?
The Wiki entry doesn’t make it clear how 3CCC was subsumed into a Bendigo community TCBL or then licence. Any ideas what happened to 3CCC and how/why it supposedly morphed to 3BBS?
Does anyone who tunes into Today’s Country 94.1 - Gosford, think that the guy who does the sponsors announcement for ‘Cheapest Workboots - Tuggerah’ is a talent?
This advert cracks me up every time I hear it - very catchy.
From Fresh FM’s Wikipedia:
"After 25 years of broadcasting, 3CCC had its license cancelled in 2006 by Australian Communications and Media Authority when the station failed to lodge renewal applications despite 12 months of frequent reminders. This resulted in a handful of on-air announcers walking from the community station, citing difficulties with management and disagreements with new programming (including increased use of pre-recorded content from 98.9 FM (Brisbane)).
The station was found in breach of its temporary license conditions in 2008 “by failing to represent the Bendigo Community”. The ACMA stated that annual general meetings to allow members to contribute to the operation of the station were not held between 2001 and 2006.
In a plan to transfer the 89.5 frequency to ABC NewsRadio to broadcast national parliament, the ACMA suggested Fresh and fellow community station Phoenix FM share the 101.5 frequency with Central Victoria Gospel Radio. Finally, after sharing a frequency with the then-testing Phoenix FM on 89.5, the ACMA allocated the 101.5 frequency to Fresh FM in 2010 and Phoenix to 106.7, Gospel radio to 105.1."
Shame about 3CCC it was a great community radio station in the 1980s its signal went far and wide, when I lived in Shepparton in that era I used to receive this station (it and ABC FM were the only stations on the FM dial back then) and listened to most of its programming. They used to have news on relay from Fox FM in Melbourne, and they carried Punter to Punter on relay from 3RRR and later 3XY. Some of their shows were a new pop releases show on Sunday morning (I used to call them and request a song on it), a comedy and music show on Saturday afternoons, and 78rpm recordings on Sunday afternoon. 3CCC’s slogan was “something for everyone”. They also played and supported local Central Victorian bands.
As we at Starter FM wait for the final say from ACMA about the 89.9 frequency, we decided to update our graphics to match our imaging sound and stand out from the crowd.
See our new design below and on our website starterfm.com
I have to say, I much preferred the previous branding. The overall package looked more polished.
I agree the previous branding looked better, but I do like how you’ve dropped FM and just use “Starter”.
This branding was to allow us to be more versatile with whatever platform we go with in the future, be it FM or digital.
I know I’ve asked this before, but it’s Richmond where?
NSW.
About 60kms north west of Sydney, in the Hawkesbury region.
Hi @anon71206228 , Coast FM Gosford has had intermittent audio glitches over the last few days… maybe about once every 15-20 mins, the audio will cut out for a fraction of second - it’s still there now … not sure if you are aware of it, or if I should let them know.
Not sure what it is, studio B is being upgraded to full digital in line with studio A done earlier in the year, it could be something related to that, but still not sure?
Whoever reads the TV guide on 2RPH needs to wise up on his pronunciations. He read Housos on 7Mate as Whose-ohs.
It’s been a while since I listened to that program, but I believe Noel Castley (who’s also the Station Manager, if I’m not mistaken) reads the nightly TV guide listings on 2RPH.
As well as program name mispronunciations, in the past I’ve also heard him refer to a few of the multichannels by incorrect names such as “Channel 7TWO”, “GEM TV” and “GO! TV”!
Koori Radio 93.7 FM still ‘effectively’ off air on FM in Sydney.
There’s no mention of it on their website or Facebook or twitter sites.
Still there on DAB+
Poor communications from this station in this modern era.
Does anyone know the problem or what works are occurring etc?
My guess is the transmitter has gone bung.
No signal and then all a sudden a fluctuating mono signal comes up for a few seconds and then dies again.
These guys need to do a deal with TXA and get onto the new community fm array at Artarmon.
it’s easy for us to say things but its also down to $$$$$. Maybe they don’t have any money or much money to fix the transmitter
