Studios are at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda. ACMA database lists the (FM) transmitter as being on the Melbourne Central tower.
Was there ever any intention to have them broadcast from Mt Lofty on full power?
Youâre right! Forgot they moved.
DAB+ is via the SFN, so City, Port Melbourne, Werribee, Mt Dandenong and whatever else they have on the network
Not sure if still the case of the station being off-air today, but 2RRR turned off their transmitter due to the heatwave yesterday.
Back on air today. Didnât receive any DX during its downtime, unfortunately.
âŚ.. umm what
Wow. That takes the prize for the âWorst name for a radio stationâ category.
Gives off distinct happy clapper vibes, as opposed to their current generic branding which seeks to hide those vibes.
96five family radio is better than Rise 96.5 tbh
I have to wonder what is rising up.
No, thatâs Roccy FMâs forever and a day. ![]()
Correct ! Roccy is the worst radio name in the world.
But Rise is pretty crap too lol.
At least it rhymes.
Well, kind of rhymes.
Okay, so it doesnât rhyme at all.
99.7FMâs home at Redcliffe to be named after station stalwart Don Gailer
The City of Moreton Bay will name community station Bridge FM 99.7FMâs home at Redcliffe after long time volunteer and community champion Don Gailer (pictured).
But Rise is pretty crap too lol.
I actually donât think itâs that bad⌠better than the usual Rhema, Life or Faith that you usually see.
Today, together, we step into the next chapter of the 96.5 story.
You may have already heard the name, spotted it on socials, or seen it popping up around the city, but today we want to officially say it out loud⌠96.5 is now Rise 96.5!
The name, and the story behind it builds on decades of ministry through radio, digital, and our unique relationship with you and the Brisbane community. Behind the name itâs the same team, same passion, and the same commitment to supporting local families, churches, causes, and of course music. Now, with that same heart and vision, weâre stepping forward with a name that better captures the momentum of what God is doing and where He is leading us next.
Why Rise?
Itâs a word that carries movement. Itâs positive, pure, aspirational, and full of possibility. It speaks to physical, mental, cultural, and spiritual growth â and it holds an inherent sense of momentum and hope. When we landed on Rise it felt like everything we were hoping for, wrapped up in a single word.Rise is a call to action. Simple. Universal. Personal and communal at the same time. It reflects the Gospel story â resurrection, renewal, hope, and Jesusâ invitation to stand up, step forward, and walk with Him.
Rise reflects our city. Growing, vibrant, and ambitious â a place that keeps moving forward. A rising city with a rising resilient spirit. Rise felt like a name that could stand confidently in that space, while still being grounded in Godâs story.
Why now?
Our mission hasnât changed, but the opportunities before us have expanded. Weâre reaching new audiences, stretching beyond FM, partnering more deeply across the city, and stepping into a future that calls for clarity, courage, and vision.Rise 96.5 represents a bold next step â the right time, the right people, and the right name for the next season of a unique and powerful ministry. It signals that weâre not standing still, weâre confidently embracing whatâs ahead.
CEO Phillip Randall said the name reflects both calling and missionâŚ
âThis is not the launch of a new station, but the next chapter of the one Brisbane already knows and loves. RISE speaks to hope, resilience and faith. It reflects what we see God doing in peopleâs lives every day, and what weâre called to nurture through media and our relationship with Brisbane.âOur heart, purpose, and values remain the same.
Rise 96.5 exists to engage people with experiences of Godâs love. That mission hasnât shifted. What has changed is the name that now underlines and illuminates those foundations.
We seek to beâŚ
A light for the city, uplifting families with practical faith and everyday encouragement.
A voice of unity, partnering with churches, schools, ministries, and businesses across our city.
A movement, not just a station, calling people to something deeper, togetherRise is a hug when you need comfort, a laugh when you need joy, and a rallying cry when you need courage. Itâs a call to Brisbane â and beyond: Look up. Stand up. Press on. Rise.
Thank you for being a part of the story so far. What happens next is exciting, and youâre invited to the party.
