A NSW record has already been broken this week, with Bourke reaching 44.8 degrees today, the hottest October day ever recorded in the state.
Mebourne Airport have updated the TAF for tomorrow with the latest data. It’s going to be a hairy day. Not quite tropical low gusts but it’s probably more the consistent nature throughout the day which will be the issue. Avalon have put out a forecast gusts of 46kn, nearly tropical low.
Basically the worst gusts appear to be between 12-2pm. Lucky off peak. The evening isn’t looking that flash either I’d expect pretty wild night early evening leading into the following morning.

A warning to all Victorians, prepare now. Potential power outages tomorrow across the state, including in Melbourne and Geelong. Charge all devices now if you can.
Saw on the weather forecast tonight that Sydney is on track for a top of 39°C tomorrow! Thought it may have been a typo or I had misread so I had to double check.
I am finding the new BOM website forces more clicks to get where I want to go.
I prefer the old one by a lot tbh
I find it to be the other way around.
Revised Avalon forecast now has Tropical Low gusts, 50 knots, 11am-1pm. Crazy stuff. The South West coast is going to be belted, if your a weather chaser head to Torquay.
It has certainly felt like mid summer rather than mid spring.
Brisbane/SEQ seems to have been around 30 for the last few weeks. Is that normal?
Heat records are falling in Sydney. Bankstown and Penrith hit 40-degrees, the hottest October days on record, says @JoshHoltTEN pic.twitter.com/eQCfWl1LPn

So did anyone try the new Bom website on launch day? I just tried it and its still got the same errors it had when I tried it in Beta mode. Lol. Idiots. ![]()
Powerful winds sweeping across the state have caused widespread damage across Victoria.

A large tree fell onto a tram on Wattletree Road outside Cabrini Hospital this afternoon, bringing services to a halt and crushing a nearby car.
Emergency services are urging people to avoid standing or parking under trees and to secure any loose items that could become dangerous in the strong gusts.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning that winds are expected to continue through the afternoon and evening before easing on Thursday morning.pic.twitter.com/hhVxRMrwrh
Tram route 5 is currently suspended between Glenferrie Road and Malvern Central Park terminus.
Thanks, I was wondering how bad the winds got down there. Doesn’t sound like it was too bad, as it didn’t get any coverage in any of the Sydney TV news bulletins today, or we were probably too wrapped up in our own heatwave coverage!
It is still very windy here in Melbourne.
7news and 9News Melbourne both had extended coverage of the destruction caused by the wild weather.
ABC News also has an update.
Hottest October day in history.
It’s getting flamed on the socials… fools.
Not a fan of the new BOM website either. Couldn’t have picked a worse day either to launch it with either heatwaves or storms/wind across nearly half the country.
For now at least, the old website and old links are available through https://reg.bom.gov.au/
Nice to know, will bookmark that one until they axe it.
