MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Yes, you heard me right… It’s not even Halloween yet, but GREAT! TV (the fmr. Sony channels) is rolling out their Christmas pop-up channel in September, replacing their romcom channel for a few months. Details here

This coincided with their ‘Movie’ channel being replaced by a Mystery one on FTA (but remains on FAST), plus the rest of the channel lineup getting a new look. This is the launch of that Mystery channel:

The main channel:

And the Action channel:

Very Temu Dave with the live action idents!

Wonder if 10 will follow suit

Why would 10 want it? Sky only took it because Rupert used syndication on Sky and Fox Nation as a chip to get Piers to join TalkTV. I have no clue why C5 are even showing it, he’s doing many times better now he’s got Youtube than even when he was on GMB.

I meant if Paramount directive?

This appears to be a deal just with C5, not Paramount.

Smells like “we want people to think we’re serious in news but we don’t have the $$$ to do it” to me…

They don’t really have something resembling hard news/current affairs, aside from 5pm (which is another outsourced work, from ITN). The Jeremy Vine strand of morning shows are really chat/panel shows.

There are 90 minutes of highlights?

Think it should actually say 90 seconds

Someone on one of the British forums seems to think this might be a precursor to a more extensive collaboration between Morgan and C5. Which would be interesting.

The have Vanessa Feltz doing a show, so picking up the scraps from TalkTV

More likely, Piers is just using Channel 5 as a vehicle to get Uncensored back onto OTA television and rebuild the brand’s audience base. As far as I know, 5’s news production contract remains with ITN, and Piers Morgan Uncensored is still produced by Talk, even after its shift to YouTube.

I doubt ITN would welcome Piers back—he comes with too much risk attached. And with their looming GMB takeover, I’d like to think the executive team is savvy enough not to repeat past mistakes.

It’s produced in News UK Studios, by his company Wake Up productions in association with News UK. Talk ceased being a television channel and is radio only again, with visualised elements for streaming.

Ofcom today announced that Geoff Cooper has been appointed as the next Chair of Channel 4.

He will join the broadcaster’s Board on 1 October, succeeding the interim Chair Dawn Airey CBE.

That’s a different bloke to the one pictures in the link. Concerning they are from a non-TV background.

According to Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne, former AFL premiership player Shane Crawford had to pull out of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, after breaking his collarbone in a non-contact footy match. Crawford was set to film the UK version in Marrakech in July but suffered the injury the day before he was due to fly out of Australia.
