They both draw sizable live viewership, yes.

As the Telegraph put it:

> It is difficult to square the BBC’s declared wish to save _Newsnight_ from the chop with this move to “primetime” on Fridays. It’s a late-night show to its core and this shift, sandwiching it between travel and gardening fare, feels more like setting it up to fail. Fans can only hope it won’t.

Can we ignore one-sided criticism like this, please?

Everything competes against everything else on TV. It was football. Not all of us can multiview.

I’m sure the BBC had valid reasons for selecting a trio, but the issue I had with the initial announcement wasn’t simply whether Strictly could work with three presenters, but whether those three personalities would actually gel together.

Josh Widdicombe and Emma Willis both have more than enough ability to host a program, but I’m not convinced Strictly is the program for either of them.

Bradley Walsh, on the other hand, struck me as an ideal replacement for Bruce Forsyth. He has that warmth, charm and the qualities that could have filled the gap Bruce left behind, and that’s something I feel the show has greatly lacked.

I have to agree that Bradley Walsh not being looked into as a host was a missed opportunity. He and Zoe Ball would’ve made a strong duo IMO. It seems Strictly wanted to go ‘young’ but went far too quickly without someone strong to hold the fort. Johannes is a great dancer but not sure what he’s doing in a hosting role, seems out of place.
