Bourke St - Suspected Terror Attack

Not in New South Wales…

Tonight’s Sydney and Melbourne bulletins:

Presser over at 8:55pm AEDT

Turn on the police presser…

You might be happy to jump to conclusions but I’d much prefer law enforcement to do their due diligence before we label every “incident” a terror attack. When I created the thread, details were still emerging.

If this “socialist safe space” bothers you, (an assertation I’d reject), you are free at any time to fuck off and leave if it’s not for you.

Moving on.

Nobody can tell me what I said that is untrue. It was a Muslim Terror Attack. Was it not? Moreover, pointing that out gets my posts erased. What is the approved terminology for calling it?

I’m not jumping to conclusions. I’m going with what the police said.

Jens, you barrelled in here TWO HOURS after this thread was started and started having a whinge about it not being called a Muslim Terror Attack - when police have only confirmed in the last half hour or so that they are investigating it as such.

Calling it an incident when the thread was started is completely fair, details were scarce and little was known as to this man’s motives or wellbeing.

Well, thread titles get changed all the time.

Moreover, I get accused of hijacking threads and turning them political. The ones (not necessarily you) who are suppressing the truth are the people hijacking this thread and turning it political.

I’ve changed it, given we now know more details. It’s a Friday night. Most of our staff have lives (clearly not me)..

That’s the last on it. Back to discussion of the news coverage please.

I would expect CBS to cross to a local 10 Reporter
Sara James may do a live cross for NBC News?
Fox News are relying on their sister network here, Sky News.

An update earlier from SC Tas, a prominent businessman from Launceston believed to be one of the injured. Sorry it’s a Facebook video and not a YouTube one.

EDIT: It’s just been shared on Facebook that the Launceston businessman injured was Rod Patterson who Tasmanians will all know from the Autobarn commercials.

Yeah, Ben has been reporting all night.

I’m surprised we didn’t see 9 or 7 do a short late night bulletin. (10 min update)

It’s a Friday… no chance of it.
Any other weekday it probably would have happened.
