7Plus guide for Adelaide currently says they will be taking network coverage until at least 4pm, then local 4pm news.

So they are going until 4pm each timezone (i.e. 7pm AEDT)?
Is it even appropriate to schedule fillers in Perth?
Kudos to the networks putting this together on such short notice, and calling presenters in from Christmas break. And well done for them all to bring something to the table rather than not run coverage.

Not sure - currently not near a TV so can only go on what 7Plus is saying, and it isn’t displaying anything after 5pm since there is the three program limit on the schedule.
As for if filler programming is appropriate, might be a good idea IMO - while some people will want coverage, I would imagine a few might appreciate some normal stuff (obviously nothing violent, etc), to provide a brief escape from all the sadness.

For radio coverage, Triple J’s Hack program will have a special edition today - last Friday was meant to be the final program for the year.

Mark Ferguson kicked off Seven’s coverage of the Shooting at 7.20PM.. and presented all the way until 8.40PM, when he handed the coverage over to Musher.
As much as Musher is good.. Surely they can use Ferguson a bit more. Handled the coverage fairly well yesterday

IMO, while coverage is warranted, I also think they should keep some normal programming in the schedule to provide an option for those who want to escape from all the sadness.

From my understanding Usher is the national face of 7 News and Ferguson is the local face of 7 News Sydney. Usher profile is a lot more established to interstate viewers and better suited to a national audience.
Ferguson and Mitchells contracts most likely would also define these positions, any extra work might result in extra overtime pay from their contracts. Just my thoughts.
