Latest illegal online gambling websites blocked

The ACMA has requested that Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block more illegal online gambling sites, after investigations found these services to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest sites blocked include:

  • C***spin
  • Frumzi
  • Great Win
  • MyStake
  • Oh My Spins
  • RetroBet
  • The Dog House 2 Slot
  • Viperwin

Website blocking is one of a range of enforcement options to protect Australians against illegal online gambling. Since the ACMA made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,564 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked. Over 225 illegal services have also pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal online gambling rules in 2017.

The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, it’s unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money. You can check if a wagering service is licensed to operate in Australia on our register.

More information about online gambling is available on the ACMA’s website, including information on how to protect yourself from illegal gambling operators and instructions on how to make a complaint about an illegal site.

Sounds like a reputable firm to me

The deal requires the cash-strapped firm to maintain minimum liquidity of A$50 million ($34.3 million) in the first year, rising to A$100 million over time.

The deal sees Star give up its 50 per cent stake in the consortium, with Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium becoming equal 50 per cent partners.

Previously, they owned 25 per cent each.

In addition to Queen’s Wharf, the Hong Kong partners will also take over Star’s ownership of the Treasury Hotel and car park, and the Charlotte Street car park.

Star is expected to pocket $53 million in the deal, along with taking stakes in Gold Coast hotels near its casino there.

Ladbrokes and Neds breach gambling self-exclusion rules

Entain Group Pty Ltd (Entain), the parent company of wagering services Ladbrokes AU and Neds AU, has entered into a court-enforceable undertaking after an Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) investigation found more than 500 breaches of national self-exclusion rules.

The ACMA found that Entain opened accounts for and provided wagering services to people registered with BetStop – the National Self-Exclusion Register™. The company also failed to close wagering accounts for self-excluded customers.

Under the rules, once an individual registers with BetStop, wagering providers must close that person’s account as soon as practicable.

ACMA member Carolyn Lidgerwood said many of the contraventions related to customers holding multiple accounts across the Ladbrokes and Neds services.

“When someone signs up to BetStop, wagering companies must close all of that person’s accounts held within their services.

“In this case, Entain’s systems did not adequately identify and link all wagering accounts held by those customers across its services, including one account that remained open for more than a year after the customer had self-excluded,” Ms Lidgerwood said.

The investigation also found some breaches occurred when new accounts were opened for individuals who were registered with BetStop.

“When people register for self-exclusion there should be no way for them to open new accounts for licensed wagering services in Australia,” Ms Lidgerwood said.

The investigation also found Entain failed to adequately promote BetStop in customer texts and emails as required under the rules.

The ACMA has accepted a comprehensive 18-month court-enforceable undertaking from Entain, committing the company to an independent review of its compliance systems and processes and the implementation of any recommended improvements.

The ACMA did not issue Entain with an infringement notice as that enforcement option was not available in these circumstances. However, failure to comply with an enforceable undertaking can result in court-ordered financial penalties.

I know of people who keep only $1 or $2 in their account just to get the live steams of whatever sport they have rights to.

I rarely use mine, which I basically only use for Melbourne, Scone and World Cups, and getting the money out is a pain.

Don’t most of the platforms make you place a bet the access the streams?

That’s what I heard, but apparently not on the sites they’ve used. It might have changed though, so you could be right,

They still want to get their donations from Sportsbet and Tabcorp. I mean this Gambling ad cancer came in once the High Court ruled that restricting Betfair from operating in another state violated Section 92 of the Constitution, that combined with the rise of the Smartphones set off the stage for the Gambling Ad problem we see today. Here in NSW, we used to not allow Gambling Ads unless they were registered and licensed with the State Government.

Close the dump down.

What would your idol think?
