Tech Now will succeed Click in March 29. A relief that they’re continuing that stream of reporting, but not sure why they waited a while after Click axed.

> **[BBC launches flagship technology programme Tech Now](https://techbuzzireland.com/2025/03/24/bbc-launches-flagship-technology-programme-tech-now/)**
>
> On Saturday 29th March, the BBC will launch Tech Now, the flagship technology programme on the BBC News channel and international digital platform, BBC.com.

Apparently, according to local tabloids, it was announced in Newswatch last week.

The branding is not good too: An Xbox 360 ring lookalike. The name’s very generic - a sister to News Now, sure, but they have a newletter named [Tech Decoded](https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-65786969), so why not that? A variant of that has appeared in The Context (before the newsletter) anyways…

Because that would make too much sense. This _is_ the BBC we’re talking about, after all…

HARDtalk has ended. A couple of interviews with its host, Stephen Sackur, below:

> **[‘I feel really, really cross at incredibly dumb decisions’: Stephen Sackur on...](https://www.theguardian.com/media/2025/mar/24/i-feel-really-really-cross-at-incredibly-dumb-decisions-stephen-sackur-on-the-end-of-hardtalk-and-leaving-the-bbc)**

> For 19 years he has held the powerful to account on a show that attracts huge audiences around the world. Now it is over. He discusses his anger with management, his pride in his team – and what he’ll do next

(I completely agree with everything he says, btw. Hopefully another outlet will hire him and continue HARDtalk.)

Yeah but then they wouldn’t have been able to sack all the staff working on Click… 🤓

Here’s the very first episode of Click, which was originally called Click Online, from April 2000:

[![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/R7MBBnpxWIo/maxresdefault.jpg "Click Online : Episode 1") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7MBBnpxWIo)

Also an insider on Pres Cafe reckons there will be changes to the UK feed… which sounds ominous.

The titles look less intricate - it’s like they got the gear icon asset on Illustrator to spin. Would like to see it animated more like this, with more layers and depth (but that’ll make it more like a reskin of the old branding…)

(From the designer responsible, based in Belfast where the channel’s playout has moved to)

The old gears still linger in the bumper and [rundown menus](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rrP1e2n1wl4) too, with the latter using the all-red blocks and wordmark. Inconsistencies right off the rebrand?
