I mean if it was Tropo, then several other stations would be on the list that TVCL had received and other Dxers from Sydney and Surrounds would be receiving it.
Strong Rockhampton troppo in Brisbane.
Was it strong enough for TNQ-36 DTV?
Nothing on DTV,
Opening has swung around to NNSW with Glenn Innes, Coffs, Tenterfield, Mt Dowe.
102.5
Feeling the Breeze from that way still this morning. Mt Dowe ABCs still in, but as usual Iāll probably need to try 98.3 in the car as my horizontal aerial here doesnāt hear anything
Not much tropo to report on my trip south today. The SEāly was blowing its guts out all the way and itās quite a dry wind through central VIC, similar to how a westerly is back home.
I can hear Melbourne FMs from my accommodation in Cape Bridgewater. Unfortunately Iām facing east over the bay and not south or west. Needless to say, the TEF will be used at both the capes. Not a sausage from Adelaide driving in; I could just hear 88.5 King Island from the higher points in Portland. Unfortunately a lot of the TAS stuff is blocked by locals such as Hamilton, Warrnambool and Portland.
I could just hear the temp 91.1 Bendigo tx from Violet Town but it was very much threshold level. Both it and MMM were good from about Rushworth on. In Maryborough they start to get weak and are gone by Avoca. No sign of (s)hit 91.9 and nothing at all on 89.5/90.3/92.7. Forgot to check 88.7 but the big shocker for me was 101.5 Fresh FM still at full power! I assumed they were from Mt Alexander too given the excellent coverage, but apparently not. By far and away the best station in Bendigo and they must be laughing right now as they are also by far and away the strongest.
Well if it makes you feel any better re Adelaide, even when I was up at Cape Jaffa/Robe in SA in September 2023, I couldnāt get a lot from Adelaide there either eg. 103.9 was only fair with partial RDS and Mix102.3 was very weak. I think the commercials only push out 1kw in that arc.
Is vision 105.3 in Portland still on air? Havenāt heard a peep out of it here in Melbourne for over a year at this point.
Hope the Tassie tropo picks up soon! I will be doing my annual trip to Apollo Bay tomorrow, so will report back on what dx conditions are like there.
Yes and also Hamilton 102.1. I have noticed that 105.3 is quite weak though.
You should have a clear shot at 89.5 3LO/t Apollo Bay in Melbourne with Bendigo off.
I am planning to visit Robe early next week so will report from there. I am down here until next Thursday.
Iāve already got it once since bendigo turned off at weak levels, sadly the band has been pretty dead to the west for days now. Only good tropo recently was northern with RDS level Griffith, Wangaratta, Deniliquin ect 2 days ago
Setup a temporary webserver in Apollo Bay, https://portable23.fmtuner.org/ let me know if thereās any problem
edit: shut down for now, will start up again sometime later tonight or tomorrow
Just IDād Triple M Gosford on 107.7, and getting faint signs of Hit 101.3 (matching The Fox) and Star 104.5 now.
Gold 101.7 Sydney around 25 dBf, stereo but no RDS decode.
Now that is what I call Short Skip.
Just checked the car radio and no skip here at Cape Bridgewater. Most of the Sydney channels are blocked here though, however nothing on 101.3 or 104.5.
Tropo is extremely poor too with only hints of Murray Bridge and Adelaide at the Cape, and nothing at all from Tassie- not even 90.9!
Doesnāt appear to be - was clear as day when it came in, surprised not to get even a partial RDS decode on either 101.7 or 107.7
Meanwhile 90.9 7JJJ is booming in on the beaches of Apollo Bay - this rules out both Flow FM sites at Beech Forest and Marengo (97.9) as being off air.

Classical music briefly on 98.7 which has given over to what appears to be 3RPP Mornington. Surely not ABC Classic Manning River?
