JJJ on 93.1 is not listed on the ACMA database so most likely an unlicenced transmitter at a mine somewhere
Possibly West Angelas Dep B Mine with wrong service on 93.1MHz…not uncommon with mine sites.![]()
Received several Auckland FM stations near to sunset today on the car radio. I’ll work through the list & post here tomorrow.
Heard 100.7 Goulburn,NSW with 60’s hits this evening too.
Several Victorian stations into Brisbane, strangely Leongatha community station. Sky radio Leongatha fluctuating with ACBRR from Lieah Tas.
Update: Ballarat, Sale, Geelong, Melbourne.
Very nice, you also had Port Macquarie with 92.7 being 2KY and Mount Dowe on 95.9. Also had 2CBD Deepwater. 93.3 Dorrigo was that community station.
Shed load of lines on the 6m VK Spotter all afternoon but not much to show for it here. Skipping over at the moment as is the case whenever Melbourne is into Brisbane.
I did have a good opening to NCL earlier with RDS on many frequencies, plus 98.5 Djido Loyalty Islands. Also bits and pieces from Queensland- noted Vision 90.1 on air from Biloela- hasn’t been heard for years.
WOW thats a good get considering it is only 25w into a Co-linear above a church
I’ve had lower power stuff than that from QLD. This used to be stronger and a real pest when looking for exotics on 90.1; now it’s mostly Breeze Collinsville I get there. Collinsville is one of the most frequently heard via skip because it’s at an optimal distance.
A Couple of things here, Yes 2NOW & 2GGG Arnt as high on the Mt Dowe tower as the ABC FM Array (Not as powerful either) & yes neither are aimed in an easterly direction. 2NOW has a strong North & West beam with antenna reflector shield whilst 2GGG is beamed south. The 3rd thing in 2NOW’s case is it has a vertical transmission antenna & I know alot of DX’s have horizontal antennas.
I can confirm 2NOW gets out well to the west as I had @hatdj loud and clear on the afternoon show between Cobar and Nyngan back in July last year (so not much tropo).
100.7 RN was fighting with 2WEB Nyngan until nearly the town limits.
This may not seem far In terms of distance but managed to get ABC Radio National from Nhill In Ouyen yesterday morning on 95.7 on my shortwave radio, Looked up how far it was from my location & it’s 200kms away came In very clear around 7am.
Nhill’s RN TX seems to have most of its power pointed towards the north. I’ve gotten it fairly often up in Mildura also fairly regularly, but it must have been a strong tropo for you to receive it that well.
Are all Mount Alexandria, Bendigo FM (ABC/SCA) signals off or at greatly reduced power at the moment?
Not receiving these from the Melbourne based TEF webservers right now.
Oh just found the answer online. ![]()
As you’ve found, it’s completely off the air for the foreseeable future. However some alternative sites have appeared for 91.1 ABC, 91.9 Hit and 93.5 Triple M.
Wow, that’s a really rare catch. I’d go with Es, as that’s still in range of short hop. Really doesn’t seem to get in past the range.
Definitely eSkip, had it from locations at a shorter distance from my area.
Agree, and tropo probably would be unlikely to be strong enough for RDS.
I’ve never received Hit93.1 Wagga strong enough for RDS here, but sometimes at lower levels in the peak season.
