Nice work logging those.

I wonder how often Adelaide makes it to the Warrumbungles on FM? 103.9 is unused so that could potentially make it there, as would 5MMM 104.7. A pity you can’t try for Cenn Cruaich in Adelaide itself as all the channels are blocked.

I’ve actually ordered the same radio as you I think the display is a lot better than my current Qodosen DX-286 be Interesting to see how it performs.

I have the same one, I did a review of it at the link below.

V2.2 fixed most of those early issues. Very happy with it.

They got stolen lol :joy:

I Started a server now that I’m in taiwan, lots of Chinese stuff. Taiwan uses the same frequency spacing as Aus so any station on an even frequency is from China and at least 250km away.

View from the hotel.

Nice! Thank you. I assume from the dot on the map & the pic that you’re not far from Keelung?

There’s some tourist attractions up in the mountains in the Jiufen area that I’ve visited.

There’s not much English to be heard on the domestic radio in Taiwan. There’s ICRT in Taipei on 100.7 MHz FM (mostly American accented & hyped). I recall one or two community radio stations had a tiny slots of BBC WS in English throughout the week.

Specifically these.

Im in Jiufen, so i guess the dot on the map is slightly wrong. Liking it here a lot so far.

Yeah this is the only one with english talk I heard too, stations like best radio 98.9 play English music every few songs but have purely non English talk.

Nice. I was going to guess Jiufen having spent a half day or so there. You’ll enjoy the food there in Taiwan. One can do a lot of things in Taiwan in the space of a week or so.

I didn’t get to experience the local radio reception in Jiufen or Keelung as tourist activities took precedence, but Jiufen would be a great location to dx from for northern remote targets.

Likely FM DX SpE from northern Taiwan to Japan & South Korea is a common event in their summer SpE season.

A Perth DX report (of sorts).

Staying in the city, have a west facing hotel room 19 floors up with a decent outlook up and down the coast.

Can get Bunbury ABCs 93.3 and 94.1 okay, but nothing from Hit95.7.

The Wave 91.7 has a noticeably better signal than Coast FM. Couldn’t scan in Mandurah DAB though.

Can get all Perth suburban community stations okay, only 6TCR Waneroo seemingly with RDS.

Which brings me to 6IX 105.7, I can only get that weak. And I suspect I’m getting that from Wanneroo not Rockingham?

No sign of Lancelin or Central Agricultural or anything else.

Haven’t really tried AM yet, but will definitely do that from Tuesday onwards once I get the rental car and head south.

Probably Wanneroo. The site isn’t back to its full, original capacity since the original tower was blown over in a storm a few years ago. From what I can gather from the Street view pictures the replacement antenna barely gets over the trees.

Thanks, I recall it had to be nulled heavily to the south as ARN, Nova and SCA didn’t want it to become a defacto FM conversion (specs say 4kw to the north, but only 40 watts south).

Got a very surprising catch today on the plane flight home from Taiwan. Triple J Launceston with RDS from above swan hill! Which is at least 700km away.

Today’s DX log. A rare Triple J Port Pirie was heard once again. FlowFM Kapunda has been identified as causing interference to hit99.5 consistently.

Down in Margaret River WA tonight.

Did a quick band scan in the motel carpark.

Can’t get much on FM on the TEF, just the local Margaret River Hit95.7 relay on 100.3, and community radio RMR on 101.9.

Bunbury ABCs 93.3 and 94.1 were fair to good, Hit 95.7 weaker.

Could get the new ABC Perth 102.5, 103.3 and 104.1 weak, JJJ, ABC, SBS and Sonshine 98.5 was next best from Perth, other community stations from Perth were very weak but commercials couldn’t be received at all.

AM was more interesting (on my Digitech AR-1780, a replacement as my old one had packed it in, so nipped into Rockingham Jaycar on the way down to pick one up). Lots of vacant AM frequencies here again. My AM log

This sounds a bit ironic, but I noticed a lack of 6VA on your list. Funnily enough, I was receiving it tonight here on the East Coast (Bowral) along with 1188 Exmouth under 2NZ.

I don’t remember hearing anything on 783 or 1188, could have been I was tuning in just when they faded out?

Impressive getting 2CR that far away, a ~3,100km journey. It may be audible in every part of the country seeing as it’s there on a regular portable radio.

Likewise getting both 3ML and 3SH, especially seeing as they’re only 2kW stations.
