Latest edition of the Radio & Television Broadcasting Stations book has been released by the ACMA a fantastic reference when do AM & FM DX.
Another good site to look at for FM is FM-DX Maps, puts all of the ACMA data on a neat map plus has extra data like RDS
Thanks just bookmarked the page.
Bungendore Hill DX report, 0600 6th Feb:
Tropo mainly just shorter range this morning; I did have 2HD with a much better signal on 90.5 though. The radio was seemingly trying to decode RDS also; is 90.5 running it currently?
2OOO FM blasting away on 98.5 so no chance of Lismore, however even 99.5 was Katoomba rather than Coffs.
Yes. 2HD 90.5
Thanks, the TEF was trying but didnāt get anything on the display unfortunately.
Thatās a good catch from down there, is that with the 3 element and pre amp?
Nope- just the extended whip!
I donāt even bother with tropo down in the valley anymore as the results from the hilltops exceed what I can get down at home, even with the big setup.
The 3 els Yagi+ preamp belongs in Cooma; a lot of work to get it set up in any case! I combine a quick walk up the hill with my DXing.
My DX site is the highest point of āThe Mountain Roadā which is just west of Bungendore at 900 m ASL (technically, itās still in Bungendore⦠@TV-Expert will confirm that). It has a panoramic view north over Lake George and the windfarms. Great photography spot too.
Agree, itās all about location, location, locationā¦
And yes, 3 elements are very cumbersome to use. Pretty much have to leave in one spot and hope for the best as even a metre or two in any direction can hit or miss signals. Whips or rabbit ears great for that.
Just checked the topographic maps online, and yes, āThe Mountain Roadā is indeed within Bungendore. ![]()
Handy in winter when I can claim that the snow that falls up there falls within Bungendore.
The southern facing spot is a water tower at the back of the āElm Groveā estate; this is the very new part of Bungendore on the northern fringes of town. You can see as far as the Tinderry Mountains (which are east of Michelago). No sign of the Bredbo pirate from up there though.
Mackay (and CQ) into Brisbane this morning.
Drove back home this morning, had Middle Brother ABCs on the car radio with RDS around Turramurra in Sydneyās north this morning.
Also earlier when passing through the Drummoyne-Hunters Hill area, I noticed Hope 103.2 audio coming through on 106.1, with ABC Classic Newcastle cutting in over it frequently. Iāve not heard that before. And I couldnāt hear any sign of that on the TVCL North server, so must be very local/directional bleed.
And closer to home, around Lake Munmorah, I had ABC Local Batemans Bay on 103.5 (but no RDS).
Nothing to report from Ouyen last night I guess you have good nights & bad nights when It comes to tropo Iām actually using a shortwave radio when it comes to AM and FM DX.
Some decent inland tropo in Melbourne this morning, getting mixx 107.7 from Swan Hill
