I missed the eSkip this evening but tried for 93.3 2RPH for the first time. Yes I can receive it, it is very weak but slightly stronger then Radio 50+. Both signals can be heard at the same time.
With 2RPH specs being 500W omnidirectional from Brokers Nose 105.3 Kix Country must be way below specs. It is ment to have the same specs as Vox, but I can only receive it faintly with strong tropo. It must be below 500w towards Sydney.
Maybe Kix Country is at 200W / 50W based on the current antenna specs.
This estimate would be based on the signal strength difference between 2RPH and the non receivable Kix Country at My location.
Down here Vox is the strongest from Brokers Nose, with 2RPH about half its strength. I barely get Kix 105.3 at all, mainly just New FM via As (which comes up surprisingly well).
Just bits and pieces of Es DX here today, nothing really worth recording. Brief FM to New Caledonia, New Zealand (twice), Port Lincoln (Tragic 89.9 and maybe a bit of 5CC 93.9) and Hobart (only caught on the car radio).
The season so far has seen good skip on 6m (50 MHz) but it rarely reaches the FM band.
Big tropo echoes occurring in Bass Strait atm, via the BOM radars.
Had some very brief SpE reception around 1pm today where I was receiving News Radio on 91.5. It was not Tropo related as conditions are completely flat at present, and it had that distinctive SpE fade.
Possibly Port Augusta SA as I could not find any other News Radio’s on 91.5 In northern QLD, or Tas which are my typical SpE paths.
Strong openings from north an south tonight. Middle Brother ABC. Mt Dowe commercials, community and Sky. Plus Glenn Innes 2CBD and RN, Richmond Valley Radio, Nimbin Radio.
Bathurst radio 95.1 and 99.3 being received today at Echo Point in Blue Mountains, although the 99.3 signal is patchy as Northside FM is also being received.
Of course I do, when Tropo conditions are right I try for Canberra DAB. Maybe I can try for them if I get to the Gib where they are received up there permanently.
That might change next year, I hear ACMA has agreed to take the North notch out of the Brisbane DAB coverage, & the TXA T-Site DAB antenna will be reconfigured as such, to send more power North.
