The DX hasn’t been as exciting down here in Sydney – just the usual enhancements from Newcastle, Canberra, CW Slopes – but I’ve finally got my new antenna setup installed.
The difference compared to the 3-element antennas doesn’t seem to be too big from what I’ve seen. When it was first set up and I was scanning through the frequencies, I thought I finally managed to get the (non-ABC) Newcastle stations, but it turns out it was just tropo.
Unfortunately, the balun on the west-facing one seems faulty, with signals on it being significantly weaker than on all the other antennas. I’m hoping they’re going to be willing send out just the replacement balun element, but I’m not so confident since it’s from AliExpress
