Would love if it’s an added round (like UNITE Round in the A-League Men was), rather than taking away a home game. Plus, an excuse to add one more match towards parity.

Explained by Laura Kane, AFLW’s general manager, to CODE Sports:
“We spent a lot of time working through which state we would play the game in,” Kane said. “There are two and a half million Australians of Irish descent, and about 130,000 Irish expats living here. A third of those expats live in Sydney … so we wanted to take a game that has an Irish team to where the most Irish people are."
In front of 2000 at North Sydney? Seems like a cop out.
Also weak not to play International Rules. Play the real game not one or the other.
Hawthorn also revealed this morning that they would be playing AFLW matches at their new Dingley facility from this season.

In the 2026 fixture revealed today, Fremantle will play six home matches at their training and administration headquarters at Cockburn Aquatic and Recreation Centre (ARC), 24 km south of Perth.
It came after the Dockers revealed that they would leave Fremantle Oval after a decade and move their home games to Cockburn ARC, which received an upgrade in 2025 including dedicated AFLW changerooms, additional community changerooms and an undercover 250 seat spectator terrace.
