An underwhelming finals series with no Collingwood in it. Geelong vs Sydney in the grand final again is a nightmare for everyone including Channel 7.
Ratings were down the last time Geelong and Sydney made the grand final ending in a blowout.

Iâm not really an AFL fan but I know a lot of people who are, and they support Collinwood, so this is hilarious.
Ken normally redeems himself after a belting and the #sackhinkley brigade start ramping up the narrative. He wouldnât want to get belted next week thatâs probably the best way to sum up his future.
Geelong look good to make it right through. Out of all the teams they could face, the most challenging for the Cats, but the team with the most challenges to even get to the Prelim, would be the Blues. Everyone else have terrible performances against the Cats in Vic.
As above though, certainly a few one sided issues if Geelong make it to the end. The only real team that would probably make it somewhat challenging would the Dogs. Please no Sydney team vs Geelong. Sadly thatâs the favourite.
If he wins next week they will back off - if he loses next week the media will go int overdrive here in Adelaide.
They shouldnât get belted looking at who they would play next, if they do huge issues for Ken.
The road ahead for Port is certainly doable, not as tough when compared to say Carlton. The issue team for Port would be GWS. And obviously huge issues if they see Geelong again.
For the sake of not repeating tonight again in 3 weeks, it would probably be in Kenâs best interest if they lose next week by a very tight margin.
Probably would be - if they loose to Geelong in a Grand Final AGAIN, then the whole supporter base will go after him.
At least the endless media speculation will keep the sports reporters busy over summer.
Ken Hinkley canât coach against a retirement village. Itâs over.
He always manages to come back however, much to the frustration of fans.
I think this time is a little different, we are playing finals here, itâs not Round 5. If they win next week then get belted again in the Prelim, itâs possibly even worse vs perhaps dropping out next week in a nail biter.
Seven and advertisers will be nervous however. Geelong vs a NSW team seems likely here, not great for ratings. Hawks or the Dogs up against the Cats would be the best outcome for ratings.
Geelongâs biggest challenge ahead would be a resurgent Carlton. Remains to be seen.
I reckon next weekâs semis will be Sydney v Brisbane and Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs. With GWS and Geelong getting a weekâs rest. Hawthorn and Carlton gone. And then I think GWS v Port and Geelong v Brisbane. And then Iâd say GWS v Brisbane. And Brisbane to get their revenge Letâs seeâŚ
Iâd like to see GWS v PA in the big dance, but reckon that would be the GF Seven would want the least. No VIC heritage in either team.
Can someone explain what the issue is if a Non-Victorian team reaches the Grand Final? Or Geelong?
If Geelong make it, wouldnât it still get large numbers due to it still having a Victorian team + Geelong being included in the Melbourne ratings market?
Also, if Port Adelaide make the Grand Final, than any loss in Melbourneâs numbers would be instantly made up by an added Adelaide audience.
ADL is a much smaller market. National advertisers are only really interested in SYD, MEL and BNE and GWS donât have many supporters.
Hawthorn star Jack Ginnivan was spotted at a Melbourne pub last night, watching the first half of Port Adelaide v Geelong while enjoying a meal.
Brisbane has lost every game against Geelong, in Victoria, since 2004. Often cop a belting.
GWS has better form against the Cats in Victoria, Carlton would be a risk also.

That would be a first right? Has a team ever come from 15th in round 24 to a semi final?
Oh no god forbid someone go to a restaurant to eat food.
Who starts these reports? Is it the DM or someone? Let me guess, Tom Morris?
Hawthorn beat Western Bulldogs by 37 points in tonightâs elimination final at the MCG, in front of a massive crowd of 97,828*. I was at the game at sat at the front row on level 2 of Olympic Stand and it was an amazing atmosphere.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ariarne Titmus were again in the audience.
After the Bulldogs led by 12 points by quarter time, Hawthorn seized control of the match, kicking nine goals to two in the next two quarters. The Hawks wasted a few chances in front of goal in the third quarter, otherwise they would have won by 40 points plus.
*According to the MCG, this is the biggest attendance ever for a VFL/AFL elimination final at the venue.
Well, time to shut up shop then and call it a day. Hawthorn have not been gone long enough. Pray for us all.
