Richmond ruckman/forward John Ronaldson, who kicked three goals in the 1967 grand final win over Geelong, has died at 79. One of his sons, Tony Ronaldson, was a former NBL player who represented Australia in the 1996 and 2004 Olympics.
Gronks will be gronks, but I canât help but feel a lot of this abuse is reduced if the game had a higher standard of umpiring.
Agreed - Iâd also argue that many fans lack the basic understanding of some of the rules either which doesnt help.
Well yeah true like donât work for a sporting agency for one . I feel like the rules are often the problem in regards to what the umpire are looking for during the match.
Itâs understood the league has locked in contact training limits for the upcoming menâs pre-season, telling club CEOs this week to expect more details by the end of July.
A contact training consultation group will soon be formed to determine how many hours per week clubs can implement contact drills.
The group will consist of club, AFL and AFLPA staff.
very happy that Errol is back for the Swans tonight, but i would be lying if i said i wasnât a little worried playing against a re-energised Brisbane

EDIT: i donât wanna talk about it ![]()
Brisbane beat Sydney by 43 points in front of more than 29,000 fans at The Gabba tonight. The Lions led for most of the match, although Sydneyâs Chad Warner scored a goal of the year contender with a solo run in the third quarter. He finished with four goals and was one of the Swansâ best players of the night.
How you holding up @ElCapitanCranky ?
Not impressed, but I knew our luck had to run out eventually.
Brisbane had it all over us and we did nothing to stand up to it.
Yeah after a run of 3-4 point wins over lower-ranked teams I was kinda worried tbh
I was worried about Sydneyâs form heading
Brisbane last month lost to Geelong, GWS and Freo including a 78-point loss to GWS with the media jumping off the bandwagon. Premierships are won in September
Hawthorn defeated GWS by 14 points in a scrappy game at the MCG tonight, after leading by as much as 43 points early in the third term. The Giants fought hard despite losing Brent Daniels (calf) and Max Gruzewski (knee) during the second quarter, as the teamâs injury list continued to grow. Hawks forward Nick Watson kicked three goals, before being sidelined for the entire second half with hamstring awareness.
Mark Ricciuto had shared a recorded message from Tony Modra, during Fox Footyâs prematch coverage of the Showdown tonight.
On the field, Carlton continued their resurgence with the sixth consecutive win, beating West Coast by 53 points. Later, Collingwood defeated Richmond by 34 points at the MCG.
EDIT
Port Adelaide came from a quarter-time deficit to beat Adelaide in Showdown 60 by 26 points. Zak Butters won the Showdown Medal with 37 possessions and 11 inside-50s.
Fremantle extend their record breaking winning streak to 14, with a convincing 51-point triumph over Gold Coast at Optus Stadium this afternoon. In a rematch of last yearâs elimination final, the Dockers dominated for the whole match while the Suns only managed three goals for the entire game.
Earlier, North Melbourne held off a final term challenge from Essendon to win by 14 points at Marvel Stadium.
Oh boy, the Suns. In their defence, going to Perth to face Freo is about the toughest assignment in footy this year, but they barely fired a shot. For a team that recruited well and looked so good early, you canât help but feel itâs all falling apart a bit mid-season⌠againâŚ
