Which is interesting as there is a fair amount of overlap with SCA Shepparton and Albury which I thought was the original reason why the two Edge stations didn’t take Hit Network programs.

I live outside the Deniliquin RA1 area by 20KM however, I can only get edge weak at best. 2QN AM during the day is even worse, I have got doubt that they are running 2000 Watts but I do not understand why ARN has 2 Radio Tower in Deniliquin Edge FM is higher up the hill while 2qn further down the hill with only about 4kms apart.
Star FM on the other hand, 85km and can get it inside the house on my handheld Amateur Radio. Star FM has given the Shepparton Area an alternative away from the SCA Duopoly on FM in the area.

That’s because AM and FM need very different conditions to get good coverage.
AM benefits best from good ground conductivity. Usually this means damper soil, which is usually at a lower altitude. The towers are more complex as they have to a specially designed ground mat to maximise the signal.
FM benefits from height, which usually means picking the highest ground available. The towers are much more simple and are all about getting the height required for the antenna.
The two towers likely wouldn’t be able to do the same things. 2QN’s tower would have been their first and the complexity of an AM tower would make it difficult and expensive to move, even if another site would be equally good.
When they launched 102.5 I’m guessing they found that the 2QN tower wasn’t tall enough and they needed to get a tower on higher ground. Land would have been cheap, so the only additional cost would have been construction and maintenance of the second tower. Power costs would be similar as there are two separate transmitters in both scenarios.
For this reason FM broadcasts don’t come from AM towers very often. Generally it’s limited to fairly flat areas, places where the AM tower was already on high ground (which isn’t common in most areas) or where the broadcaster has been very stingy and has chosen a less optimal solution to save money.

Echuca is a very Interesting location they can get 6 commercial radio stations two from Bendigo, Shepparton & Deniliquin.

Neil Mitchell’s new show, Mitchell Unlimited, is also broadcast on the ACE network on 9-10am Sundays.
Food Bytes, which used to occupy the timeslot, has been moved forward to 5-6am Sundays.

Variation to Horsham Licence Area was released today looks like 3WM will be converted by the end of the year:
Be Interesting to see what area ACE will do next whether it’s Colac or Swan Hill.

I think it is a priority for ACMA and ACE radio to convert their Regional stations from AM to FM due to the fact the newer radios are DAB/FM only no AM

ACE Radio confirms redundancies across its network
ACE Radio Production Manager Cassie Aldridge was among those let go.
3HA’s FM conversion has come to a halt, I wonder if money troubles is the reason?

The article mentioned contractors getting the boot too. Wonder if that includes announcers on the metro stations as well?
Have a look at the ACMA RRL - their FM conversion licence is set as “Not Granted”.
I thought it was approved back in May
No, the frequencies were allocated in May and the plan was put out to public consultation in May. The licence has still not been granted.
My guess? 3HA FM will be on by September and 981 will be off the air by November.

It has been allocated & additional frequencies In towns like Casterton have been allocated.
