Gardening Australia - Season 34

image

From Friday 10 February 7.30pm

Costa learns about plant adaptions to climate; Sophie visits a designer’s home; Millie gets stuck into summer jobs; Clarence and Hannah get a garden history lesson; Tammy grows potted dragon fruit; we meet an orchid hybridiser.

We’re back for our 34th year, with a super special first episode that sees the whole team together in the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. We are looking forward to another great year of beautiful gardens, inspiring plant-lovers, and practical information.

In 2023, Gardening Australia welcomes Tammy Huynh to the team! Based in Western Sydney, Tammy joined us as a guest presenter in 2022 and we are also delighted to officially welcome Tasmanian presenter, Hannah Moloney. Hannah has appeared on Gardening Australia since her guest presenter series in 2019.
Costa tours the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne to learn how the team of horticulturalists are adapting the plant collections to ensure they will withstand a changing climate.

Sophie visits the home garden of a renowned landscape designer which showcases many different styles of garden design seamlessly within the stunning space.

Millie gets stuck into some summer jobs—pruning, pest-proofing, and of course, planting - to prepare her garden for the cooler times ahead.

Clarence and Hannah meet up with a First Nations Educator at Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens to learn about the intersection of the cultural and ecological history of the landscape.

Tammy shows how easy it is to propagate dragon fruit plants in pots, so that anyone can grow these sweet treats in a garden of any size.

We meet Kevin Butler, a pharmacist who has become an internationally recognised cultivator of Cymbidium orchids focusing on colour, patterns, and beauty.

Jerry profiles a stunning tropical plant that can be grown anywhere in Australia; Hannah covers the perfect thickness for mulch; Josh explains why some eucalypts have multiple stems.

According to Sydney Opera House website, Dami Im, Christine Anu and Isaiah Firebrace will also perform.

Tickets to the event are free but in limited numbers. They will be available from SOH website tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10am AEDT.

UPDATE 15/1: the concert will be hosted by John Foreman, Casey Donovan, Jeremy Fernandez and Sirine Demachkie, according to the Australia Day Guide inside today’s Sunday Telegraph. Immediately setting about her investigation, Vera soon discovers that the body is local council enforcement officer and experienced amateur sailor Frank Channing. A family man, with strong friendships, who was well respected at work, surely this really was just an accident?

However, it’s not long before Vera discovers evidence suggesting foul play. Vera and her team piece together Frank’s final days and soon discover that his life wasn’t all plain sailing.
