It’s possible that the proposal is to drop The World Today and PM from the RN schedule but keep them on Local. Continue to downgrade RN to a podcast collection and eventually make it online-only.
Huh? Radio National has spent the last 2-3 years reversing most of the podcast network decisions.
News Radio is a shell of itself, that should turn into a pop-up parliamentary broadcast channel.
Yeah they’re investing in new daily programs (global roaming) and having live announcers during the morning and afternoon. I hope more new programs are announced for next year. I can do without the “history showcase” and “comedy showcase” which is just a dumping ground for old abc and BBC programs.
News radio should be run like France info and just simulcast the tv channel during evenings, weekend and overnights. Just invest in a hybrid studio that have radio quality sound like france does. I hate switching it on on a random weekday not knowing if someone local is reading abc news or if it’s the bbc world service for no reason.
It also so dumb that they stop local programs at like 11:30 am weekends but still have someone reading local headlines every half hour. Seems like a waste of talent that can be reading news and having interviews.
