Ruby was missing for most of the first half of this year (leave?).Returned in July for a few weekends, then got stuck with Weekends News, plus Mondays and Fridays filling-in for Joe O’Brien for most of September …. she might of earned a rest!
The Weekend News shift has to be shared around, as it is nearly all day (11am - 5 pm), even though it is only read for 30 minutes at the top of each hour. Most (all?) presenters do not want to regularly work all weekend away from their families. This explains the variety of people presenting the Weekend News …. I think it’s called ‘taking one for the team”.

Much prefer dual headers on the news channel, but they should be doing it from the new set in Sydney, as opposed to the old set in Sydney.

Danny Tran just told viewers on ABC Victoria News that Mount Baw Baw had an overnight temperature of minus 50. He emphasised it. How incredibly embarrassing for him and ABC News Victoria. And to think he was pretending to be a weather presenter at one point. Credibility now zero.

Obviously the weather station has been on the blink Latest Weather Observations Mount Baw Baw . But pretty poor effort no go to sit without questioning that.
I wonder if Danny misread/or it was mistyped into the autocue as what was meant to be -0.5 and didn’t realise the error until it was too late?

BOM really botched their website relaunch no doubt, but it’s lazy to not verify or check that properly before airing and to emphasize it. But more likely a typo for -0.5 that got missed last minute
