The ABC existed before TV/radio broadcasting was even a thing!

Eek basic
I don’t mind it, but i do miss the old theme
Yeah that doesn’t look great.
When did they change to this graphics look? Haven’t watched Stateline before.
ABC News Queensland was anchored in studio by Lexy Hamilton-Smith tonight, with live crosses to Jessica Van Vonderen in Rockhampton at Beef Week introducing some related stories. Jenny Woodward also presented weather from there as well. An extended 40 second closer also featured numerous shots of the event.
Beef week you say… interesting.
Lexy is really underrated IMO, but still wouldn’t watch ABC’s Queensland bulletin.
Feels like Lexy would of been made the permanent weekend presenter if they hadn’t axed The Drum and had to find something for Ellen Fanning to do.
But then again she was already presenting some weekends prior to the end of The Drum.
Yes, she would have.
Interesting…
I know the Australian Type Foundry did commission a serif version of the ‘oneABC’ typeface in 2017, as well as a few others for specific usage cases.
The serif variant though,
And finally, three serif weights were produced for text use. They share a common DNA with the sans with the intention that the two families will live side by side. The serif weights are designed for internal use only – so you won’t find these on the ABC’s broadcasting platforms.
However, that mindset appears to have changed, as Stateline does use ABC Serif! (notice the l and i characters)
Could we see ABC News adopting serifs, similar to that of BBC News?
The ABC’s Story Lab and Digital Story Innovations have triumphed at the Society for News Design Awards, the leading global awards recognising journalism that pushes the boundaries of design and technology.
The ABC haul of 13 awards included three Bronze medals, which are awarded to stories that are at the leading edge of craftsmanship or innovation, displaying an elevated level of execution, originality or degree of difficulty.
One of the Bronze awards went to Story Lab’s data visualisation of the upcoming stage 3 tax cuts, which the judges praised for its non-traditional approach and ability to provide context and scale, as well as its attention to detail and commitment to a single concept.
A Bronze was also awarded to Story Lab’s ‘See your identity pieced together from stolen data’, which revealed how much of our personal information can be found online.
The ABC received 10 Awards of Excellence in areas including politics, social issues, business, animation design and information graphics. Ben Spraggon, designer for ABC News’ Interactive Digital Storytelling team, received two awards for his individual portfolio.
“A big congratulations to everyone who worked on these projects, and in particular the designers credited on them — Ben Spraggon, Georgina Piper and Alex Palmer,” said ABC News Story Lab editor Matthew Liddy.
“Excellence in design doesn’t happen in isolation — the ABC News staff credited on these awards range across a suite of roles including reporter, developer, producer, data journalist, photographer and 3D animator. All of these roles are crucial to achieving great design results.”

Is anyone checking the graphics these days???
Two in two days. Seven yesterday, Adelaide ABC today.
Cmon we can surly do better?
Not that this is an excuse for the incorrect spelling going to air, but apparently the software used to create the graphics doesn’t have pick up spelling mistakes or grammar errors like a word document, email, etc.
It’s never had that ability. Which is a good reminder to give the graphic designers the correct copy. They’re focused on one thing.
Not sure if they surely typo is ironic @akymbo82!
Have to say I’m stunned ABC News isn’t providing live coverage of D Day anniversary right now.
It’s live on Sky UK, CNN, Fox News, BBC News and MSNBC.
Why is our national broadcaster not covering a significant world event like this live with their own reporters and analysis?
Even a straight relay of BBC would be the bare minimum.
