Some budget graphics last night:
From iView. Tonight’s graphs from Alan Kohler. It does seem like it’s an inside joke that he has to come up with an obscure graph every night.
I’m not sure why the forecast for Adelaide was specific for the inner city suburb of Kent Town, in the ACT weather report tonight.
Alan Kohler’s obscure graphs have been a mainstay for years, as long as I can remember his finance segments on ABC News.
Yes, his sarcastic/direct way of presenting takes the dullness out of finance.
The Adelaide weather observation station was located at Kent Town up until 2017, so maybe a left over location tag snuck through onto the graphics?
Still appreciate the closing shot with the lighting grid turned down.
Yes, it’s the studio going into “standby” mode or something along those lines. Essentially to reduce power consumption.
Not sure if the new sets in NSW and VIC do it as-well
I mean, with studio lighting, you’re meant to be able to control it so that you can program transitions like this. Broadcasters worldwide do this for a variety of reasons.
It’s a e s t h e t i c.
It’s also quite a dated production technique. Very 90s and early 2000s.
A blink and you miss mistake tonight.
Yes, it was the AFP who issued the wrong information, and the ABC didn’t correct it.
ABC News websites stayed at number one for anothe rmonth.
Needs more cheesiness if you’re using “We’re With You”…
(can’t find the NBN version, using TVW’s version, it’s close enough)
Not to get too hung up on this tangent, but WNAC-TV (later becoming WNEV and now WHDH) Channel 7 in Boston originated the “We’re With You” campaign that TVW-7 adopted.
While America’s ABC used its own composition to take on We’re With You as a network slogan for 1984-85.
