ABC TV - Programs and Schedules

I don’t know if we will see a massive changes, I know a new ident was shown at the public meeting as well as the Tagline “Yours” below the logo.

The existing IDs have been re-edited to have the “Yours” tagline at the end:

I’ve never seen a Ident on the main channel.

Even as recently as a few years ago, the ABC used to air Idents before every program but I think they only air in off-peak timeslots these days.

Personally I think it would’ve been nice to see some totally new HD-produced Idents rather than just the 2014 “#ourABC” Idents re-edited for the new tagline.

Why don’t you donate some money to them and then they can afford to make idents more often for you?

Asher Keddie has been cast in the new four-part BBC-ABC drama series The Cry. Filming is underway in South Australia before moving to Scotland. It is Keddie’s first ABC series since Paper Giants.

That’s because they now run the ‘ABC Original’ sting before every Australian program, and it would be quite a lot of time to have both the ident and the sting.

It is a shame though, I really liked the original idents used when they rebranded back to ABC, especially the one with the dingo howling the ABC three-note tune.

Forster’s masterpiece, Howards End is the story of two independent and unconventional sisters and the men in their lives seeking love and meaning as they navigate an ever changing world. The ‘Movie Man’ must have gotten some airtime on the ABC!

Australia’s finest join the cast of new drama The Cry

Multi-award-winning actors Asher Keddie and Alex Dimitriades, star alongside Jenna Coleman (Victoria, Dr Who) and Ewen Leslie (Top of the Lake, Safe Harbour) in BBC One’s thrilling drama series The Cry. With filming currently underway in Melbourne, the series will air on ABC later in the year.

Rounding out the superb cast is acclaimed Scottish actress Stella Gonet (The Crown, House of Elliott), Markella Kavenagh (Romper Stomper) and Shareena Clanton (Wentworth).

The four-part psychological thriller follows the lives of a young couple, Joanna (Jenna Coleman) and her husband Alistair (Ewen Leslie). Joanna and Alistair travel with their baby from Scotland to Australia to see Alistair’s mother, Elizabeth (Stella Gonet) and to fight for custody of Alistair’s daughter Chloe (Markella Kavenagh) against his Australian ex-wife Alexandra (Asher Keddie). However, when they arrive in Australia, Joanna and Alistair are forced to face an unthinkable tragedy that changes their lives and their marriage forever. It is the catalyst for a journey into the disintegrating psychology of a young woman, exposing the myths and truths of motherhood.

ABC Head of Distribution, Entertainment and Specialist Rebecca Heap says “With the amazingly talented and popular Asher and Alex joining the fabulous cast, this is truly a first class international production. I was completely drawn to The Cry’s universal themes coupled with its unique and distinctive Australian elements and we are thrilled to be able to share this gripping drama with our audiences later in the year.”

Elizabeth Kilgarriff, BBC Drama Senior Commissioning Editor, and Gaynor Holmes, BBC Drama Commissioning Executive, said: “We’re very excited to have started filming in Australia and to have such an incredible array of Australian talent joining Jenna and Ewen, topped off with some of Scotland’s most accomplished actors. Watching them bring Helen FitzGerald’s gripping, page-turner novel and Jacquelin Perske’s wonderful scripts to life is a joy and we can’t wait for BBC One audiences to see The Cry.”

Filming in Scotland and Australia and directed by Glendyn Ivin (Safe Harbour, Seven Types of Ambiguity, The Beautiful Lie), The Cry is written by Jacquelin Perske (Seven Types of Ambiguity) and is the first scripted television commission for Scottish-based production company Synchronicity Films.

Claire Mundell, Executive Producer for Synchronicity Films, said “I am delighted to have such a talented cast joining Jenna, Ewen and the team. It’s so exciting to have such brilliant Scottish actors as Stella and Sophie joining our absolutely stellar Australian cast Asher, Alex, Markella and Shareena and to tell this thrilling story which spans the two countries. We could not be more thrilled to be shooting the show in the incredible Australian light of Melbourne, and contrasting that with the beautiful West End of Glasgow.”
