###Maigret Sets A Trap

Sunday 16 April at 8:30pm

Maigret Sets a Trap is a stand-alone dramatic film featuring the legendary French fictional detective Jules Maigret, played by the globally-renowned actor Rowan Atkinson.

It’s set in 1955 during sweltering summer in Paris, as the city is gripped with fear as four young women are murdered on the streets of Monmatre in a spree of seemingly unconnected attacks. Chief Inspector Maigret is under huge public and professional pressure to find the killer before he strikes again.

Maigret sets a trap which ultimately leads to a thrilling climax.

Further cast include Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood), Aiden McCardle (Mr Selfridge, The Mill), Shaun Dingwall (Silent Witness, Death in Paradise), Lucy Cohu (Broadchurch), Leo Staar (Call The Midwife, Lewis), Rufus Wright (Miranda, Doctors), Hugh Simon (The Mill, MI‐5), David Dawson (Ripper Street, Peaky Blinders), Colin Mace (Doctors, Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies) and Rebecca Night(Starlings).

Maigret Sets a Trap will be followed by Maigret’s Dead Man later in the year. The formidable character of Jules Maigret first appeared in print in 1931.Georges Simenon, who wrote 75 Maigret novels, I considered one of the greatest writers of the 20th century –selling around a billion books worldwide to date.

Variety reports the ABC will co-produce a new crime drama series called Harrow in association with ABC Studios International, Hoodlum Entertainment and Screen Queensland. It tells the story of forensic pathologist Dr. Daniel Harrow, a specialist at solving bizarre murder cases, but whose past hides a terrible secret that he must keep hidden. If I am not mistaken, it is the first time the two ABCs (Australia and USA) collaborate on a TV show.

They have done it before with Please Like Me.

###Diana: Designing a Princess

Tuesday 2 May at 8:00pm

2017 is the 20th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. As one of the most famous women on the planet, Diana had an acute sense of the importance of fashion, controlling her own image and understanding that clothing could be an art form with extraordinary possibilities to convey message and meaning. This programme, produced in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces and presented by Brenda Emmanus, looks at some of Diana’s most celebrated and exquisite dresses, brought together for a new exhibition of her clothes at Kensington Palace in February. Brenda visits the Conservation Studio at Hampton Court Palace as the dresses are prepared for display, and she hears from historians, cultural commentators and the designers who dressed Diana, including Elizabeth Emanuel, Victor Edelstein and David Sassoon.

Not sure what happened to ABC’s schedule tonight but according to the EPG, evry show after 8pm commenced early so that by 9.30pm The Warriors started 4 minutes early.

###Unforgotten

From Friday 9 June at 8:30pm

When the body of a young man is discovered in a derelict building, DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) – one of the Met’s smartest detectives – is called in to investigate with her partner, DI Sunil Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar).

Jimmy Sullivan was a homeless boy, murdered in 1976 when the building was a hostel. His diary implicates four suspects: Clergyman Robert Greaves (Bernard Hill), a devoted husband and father; Sir Phillip Cross (Trevor Eve), an eminent entrepreneur, and business tsar to the government; Lizzie Wilton (Ruth Sheen) a middle-aged woman who, alongside her husband Ray, works with disadvantaged black kids; and wheel chairbound Eric Slater (Tom Courtney), who is carer to his wife Claire (Gemma Jones), who’s in the early stages of dementia. Each of them has something to hide. As their lies unravel, the people they love most begin to wonder what else they might be capable of.

The more layers of deception that Cassie peels back, the more she realises that nothing in this case is black and white. Can you ever really know the people closest to you? What secrets have they buried?
